Brown County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a rollover accident south of Brownwood late Saturday night which led to the arrest of the two men involved.
Just before 11:00pm, deputies arrived at the crash site and were told by volunteer firemen that a male had left the scene of the accident and walked to a nearby residence. When officers arrived at the residence, they saw a male run to the back of the home which they were not able to locate, the report states. According to the report, another man later identified as 23-year-old Shawn Michael Seamans, in the front yard of the residence, stated that he was the driver of the vehicle and he was then taken back to the scene of the accident by a DPS trooper investigating the crash.
During the investigation it was learned that another passenger of the vehicle was 51-year-old Billy Mark Seamans, who could not be located at the scene. According to BCSO reports, the deputies and trooper returned to check on the welfare of the older Seamans due to his having just been involved in a rollover accident.
Occupants of the residence advised officers that the older Seamans was not in the residence but had run into the pasture, the report states. As they searched, a very old mobile home was noticed and the sound of breaking glass alerted the officers that someone was inside the trailer, then the person ran out through a hole in the side of the trailer. Dogs barking near a tank on the property led the officers to where Billy Mark Seamans was hiding. According to the deputy’s report, Seamans told officers that he ran and hid because he was “scared” and that he “did not want to get in trouble.” This investigation led to the arrest of Shawn Michael Seamans for Driving While Intoxicated and to the arrest of Billy Mark Seamans for Evading Arrest/Detention and Public Intoxication. In other unrelated reports released Tuesday, February 14, 2012:
