Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, February 14, 2011.

Tuesday, February 8

*1:05pm-A Brownwood Police officer was on duty at Brownwood High School when he was contacted by school officials to come to the front office regarding a juvenile who was found to be in possession of tobacco products.  According to the report, a citation was issued to the juvenile.

Wednesday, February 9

*1:25pm-A Brownwood Police Officer while working at Brownwood High School, along with Vice Principal Moore were notified that a student possibly had a gun in his backpack along with welding equipment.  According to the report, an investigation determined that there was not a gun in the backpack; however the juvenile was found to be in possession of tobacco, which was seized and the student was given a citation for the offense.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a pick-up truck at the intersection of Limerick and Blarney Drive.  According to the report, there were two occupants in the vehicle, one of which was identified as 37-year-old Kelly Mack Koenig.  Koenig could not provide proof of insurance the report states.  Dispatch advised the officer that Koenig had a suspended driver’s license and insurance on the vehicle was unconfirmed the report states.  Koenig was placed under arrest for Driving While License Invalid and for an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

Thursday, February 10

*2:55pm-A Brownwood Police Officer met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown suspect stole a Smith and Wesson handgun from the inside of her mother’s car while it was being worked on at a local auto dealership.  The firearm was listed as lost or stolen in the TCIC/NCIC database.

*5:45pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 2300 block of 1st Street regarding a stolen Xbox gaming system.  According to the report, the complainant stated that he had to leave a residence for a few minutes and when he returned, his Xbox was gone, along with another male who was at the residence.  The complainant wishes to pursue charges against the suspect for theft greater than $50, less than $500 the report states.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 43-year-old Danny Harmes for Driving While License Invalid.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 24-year-old Justin Lynn Weiershausen for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 3, greater than or equal to 28g, less than 200g and Driving While License Invalid.

February 11

*10:24am-Brownwood Police responded to a report of criminal mischief at a local hotel.  According to the report, the complainant,  an employee,  stated that one of the rooms had been severely damaged by an occupant who had already checked out.

*1:30pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Magnolia regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject broke the rear window of her Chevy Trailblazer between 11:00pm on February 10th and 1:00pm on February 11th.

*1:32pm-A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a property near Byrd’s Store where a complainant reported criminal mischief.  According to the report, a deer feeder had been knocked over, windows had been shot out of a deer blind with a BB gun, a game camera had been shot and damaged by a BB gun, another game camera had been stolen and there were bike tracks in the area.  Two suspects have been named and the complainant does wish to pursue charges if a suspect can be proved.

*3:36pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop on a pick-up in the 1100 block of Avenue H.  Further investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Kevin Allen Green, 21-year-old Anthony Michael Tibbetts of Early and 19-year-old Jacob Glenn Bond for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 3, less than 28g the report states.

*7:21pm-Brownwood Police received reports of three separate cases over the last several months of identification theft from a child currently under the protection and care of Child Protective Services of Texas.  According to police reports, these three cases were reported by CPS case workers and involved opening of credit accounts, a cellular phone account, and fraudulent use of Medicaid accounts.  The investigations of these cases are ongoing.

*7:30-An Early Police Officer stopped a blue Dodge pickup after receiving a reckless driving report on CC Woodson Rd.  While interviewing the driver, the officer could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle the report states.  The driver, identified as 47-year-old Anita Marie Valdez, appeared to be intoxicated according to police. The officer performed a series of field sobriety tests and placed Valdez, under arrest for Felony DWI (3 or More) and Driving While License Suspended.

*Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of Oak Park regarding a burglary.  According to the report, an investigation determined that a suspect entered through an unsecured pet door.  Once inside, several items were stolen the report states.  No suspect information was available at the time of the report and the incident is under investigation.

February 12

*3:16am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Southside regarding an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.  According to the report, the complainant had sustained some minor cuts from a small knife during an outdoor argument.  The assailant was unknown by the complainant who reported he had never seen the suspect before the report states.  Police are attempting to obtain security footage to aid in the investigation which is ongoing.

*5:44am-Brownwood Police were called to the 1500 block of Magnolia regarding an unwanted person.  A criminal trespass warning was issued to a subject that was still on scene when officers arrived.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 25-year-old Bradley Allen Deschane for Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz.

*A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested 27-year-old Christopher Luis Salazar for Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz.

February 13

*1:16am-A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy joined a pursuit to assist Bangs Police.  According to the report, the pursuit proceeded out of the city of Bangs and west on Hwy 67/84 for a couple of miles until the vehicle voluntarily stopped.  The driver, identified as 17-year-old Jerry Doyle Marney, was read his Miranda rights when stated he understood his rights and would speak to the officers.  When asked why he “ran”, he confessed that he had stolen the truck from the Lake Brownwood area at approximately midnight the report states.  The owners of the vehicle were contacted and stated that the keys for the vehicle were always left in the other car they owned.  When asked about the keys, Marney stated that he was going to steal the other car but none of the keys would fit it; however when he discovered the Ford keys, he decided to take the truck according to the report.  Marney had a pet dog with him when he was arrested which was taken to the animal shelter in Brownwood until his father could pick up the dog.  Marney is charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with Vehicle,  Burglary of a Motor Vehicle (a class A Misdemeanor) and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (a State Jail Felony).  As of Monday morning, Marney remained in custody at the Brown County Jail on bonds totaling $22,500.

*1:24am-Brownwood Police were called to a theft that occurred at a local convenience store.  While en route, the suspect vehicle was located.  According to the report, a traffic stop was initiated and the two occupants stated that they had followed the suspect, who they had just met at a local bar, to the convenience store where she attempted to buy beer.  The clerk refused to sell the beer because it was after hours for alcohol sales the report states.  The woman then ran out of the convenience store with the beer according to police reports.  The two men who had been with her allegedly offered to pay the clerk for the beer; however he refused their offer due to the time the report states.  The beer was not located in the car and in speaking with the clerk, the men’s story was validated.  A suspect has been named; however there was no arrest at the time of the report.

*3:20am-Early Police officers went to a local motel after receiving information that the person in the room was in possession of marijuana.  According to the report, both officers spoke with the occupant, identified as 33-year-old Tonya Michelle Craft Maddison of China Springs, and obtained consent to search the room.  A marijuana joint was found on the night stand and Maddison stated that it belonged to her boyfriend the report states.  Officers looked further and located a bag with marijuana behind the dresser.  Maddison was unable to find her boyfriend to claim the marijuana and was subsequently arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2oz.

*1:11pm-BrownCounty Sheriff’s Office responded to a large grass fire located on Hwy 279 near a resale shop.  According to the report, two subjects had been cleaning and burning items that had been damaged by recent bad weather.  The deputy was told that the items were being burned in a trash barrel when it got out of their control the report states.  The owner, identified as 47-year-old Trina Meshelle Barnes of Baird stated that a man she had working with her had started the fire; however he denied this when the officer questioned him according to the report.  Barnes stated that she was aware of the burn ban the report states.  She stated she did not remember who started but eventually took responsibility for the fire the report states.  Due to the amount of fire personnel and law enforcement officers that were called to the scene and the fact that the fire had threatened neighboring property and homes, Barnes was arrested for Violation of Burn Ban.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
