According to Early Police Chief David Mercer, a traffic stop Monday night led to another significant drug arrest in the area.
At midnight, EPD Officer Stephanie Brown stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 1400 block of Early Blvd. According to Mercer, the driver 32-year-old Amber Lee Albers Tibbitts of Evant was reported to be extremely nervous and unable to answer questions consistently.
After further investigation, Officer Brown searched the vehicle locating several different types of prescription medication which Tibbits did not possess a prescription for, the report states. These pills were later identified to be sleeping pills, muscle relaxers and some antibiotics, Mercer said. After searching further, Officer Brown located several items of paraphernalia containing methamphetamine, which included 2 baggies of methamphetamine in Tibbitts’ purse, according to the report. Tibbetts had attempted to destroy some of the methamphetamine by emptying the bag into a soft drink cup, according to Mercer.
As a result of the investigation, Tibbitts was taken into custody and transported to the Brown County Jail, charged with possession of controlled substance penalty group 1 equal or greater than 200 grams less than 400; tampering with physical evidence with intent to impair; and 4 counts of possession of dangerous drugs. Tibbits was being held in lieu of bonds totaling $50,000 as of Tuesday morning.
