Monday, January 23
*4:31pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a fraudulent money order from a complainant in the 300 block of Bluffview Drive. According to the report, an investigation is ongoing and charges will be pursued.
Tuesday, January 24
*3:40pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of 10th Street regarding found property. According to the report, the complainant found a backpack with a laptop and camera in the alley behind his residence. The items were checked and they were not listed as stolen; however both were taken and secured in the Brownwood Police Department property room for safe keeping until the owner can properly identify and claim the items.

*9:30pm-Brownwood Police received a report of possible child abuse/neglect from a complainant at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Friday, January 27
*6:21am-Brownwood Police received a report of the theft of a digital camera. The theft occurred on January 12, 2012 in the 400 block of W. Commerce. There were no known suspects at the time of the report.
*10:16am-Brownwood Police were called to the 600 block of Gifford regarding a vehicle burglary. According to the report, the offense occurred overnight. The vehicle was reported to have been unlocked when unknown suspect(s) removed a black backpack from the rear passenger seat according to police. No other items were taken from the vehicle.
*10:38am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 100 Rose Lane regarding a found bicycle. According to the report, the bicycle was found in an alley by the residence and was not reported to be stolen. The bicycle was secured in the property room at Law Enforcement Center for safekeeping.
*12:24pm-Brownwood Police responded to the report of theft in the 1600 block of Good Shepherd. According to the report, several items were stolen from a residence. These items included a 32-inch flat screen television, a gold watch, household items, a laptop & software, a tool box of tools, fishing pole & tackle box, a cell phone, and a credit card.
*2:07pm-Brownwood Police received a report of identity theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that near the end of December, a coworker obtained his personal information and applied for a credit card and an online loan in the complainant’s name. Suspect information was provided and the incident is under investigation.
*3:15pm-Brownwood Police took a report at 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft. According to the report, a white male subject walked out of the store with a 55-inch LCD television valued at $1298 without paying. The subject was being pursued by store employees and in his rush, knocked the basket over and dumped the television onto the parking lot. The suspect fled in an awaiting white Chevy dually pickup the report states. The television was recovered but had been broken during the incident. Suspect information was provided and an investigation is active.
*4:37pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a runaway juvenile. According to the report, the complainant stated that her daughter ran away from the Brownwood Middle School around 4:00pm and that the girl was supposed to ride the school bus home but failed to do so. A relative of the runaway saw her walking toward the Section Hand Restaurant with the three middle school boys after school, the report states.
*4:52pm-Brownwood Police received a report of harassing phone calls and text messages. According to the report, the woman was the victim of sexual assault recently. Investigators of both Brownwood Police Department and Brown County Sheriff’s Office are continuing the investigation.
*8:59pm-A Brownwood Police officer while on patrol in the area of Austin Avenue and Main Street, observed a vehicle with a license plate lamp that was not working. According to the report, the driver, 20-year-old Antonio Martinez, was found to be operating the vehicle without a driver’s license. Investigation showed that Martinez had eight prior convictions of driving without a license. Martinez was arrested for Driving without a License 3rd or More.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21-year-old Levi Montgomery of Stephenville for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Grade 3 less than 28 grams and Possible Marijuana Less than 2 oz.
Saturday, January 28
*9:02am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, investigation showed that several items of jewelry were stolen approximately one month ago from the residence. The complainant suspected that an employee of her business may have stolen the items; however no specific suspect could be named.
*11:19am-Brownwood Police responded to the 2300 block of Southside Drive regarding identity theft. According to the report, the complainant received a collection letter in the male regarding a credit card which had defaulted in the amount of $1240.39. The complainant reported that he has filed similar reports in the past regarding identity theft which date back several years, according to police. The details regarding the account or who opened it are unknown the report states.
*2:03pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Austin Avenue, Coggin Park, regarding suspects damaging park signs. According to the report, police arrived on scene and located the damage. Witnesses pointed police in the direction the suspects were traveling. Four juveniles were located and identified as the suspects the report states. The juveniles admitted to kicking the signs but stated that they were already damaged. Due to limited information, an information report was made regarding the incident, parents were contacted and the juveniles were released to them at the scene.
*5:38pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2500 block of Belmeade. According to the report, the complainant stated that her neighbor kicked her son in the leg and she wanted to pursue charges for Injury to a Child.
*5:49pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of 13th Street regarding a suspicious call. According to the report, the complainant stated that a male subject called and informed her that she qualified for a government grant. During the call, the male was reported to have made sexual comments to her, the report states.
*6:13pm-Brownwood Police received a report of theft from a complainant at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center. According to the report, the complainant told police that her boyfriend of 4 years took two of her prescriptions out of her purse.
*6:20pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject struck her vehicle that was parked in the parking lot. No suspects could be determined at this time.
*8:19pm-Brownwood Police officers were called to the 400 block of S. Broadway Street, Uncle Dave’s Roadhouse, regarding a subject who was reported to be intoxicated on medications. This call led to the arrest of 33-year-old Wendell Joseph Nicholson for Public Intoxication.
*8:56pm-Brownwood Police received a report of a burglary of a vehicle at 401 W. Commerce. According to the report, a gray CD player was taken from a vehicle parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot.
*Bangs Police arrested 22-year-old James Lee Kinsey of Bangs for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions.
Sunday, January 29
*12:14am-Brownwood Police received a report of theft in the 1500 block of Vincent. According to the report, the complainant ordered two DVDs (valued at $40) from an online store which were supposed to be delivered by the post office on January 27th. The report states that the complainant contacted his mail carrier who stated she delivered and secured the package to his mail box with a rubber band on the 27th. The rubber band was still hanging on the mail box when he checked for the package on the 27th. A suspect has been named and the complainant wishes to pursue charges.
*1:52am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Durham Avenue regarding criminal mischief. The complainant stated that someone broke out a window in her daughter’s bedroom. Investigation revealed that the complainant and her daughter had an argument, but that her daughter had left prior to the window being broken.
*1:08am-Brownwood Police received a report of a hit and run accident in the 100 block of Johnson Street, Tequila Nights Bar. According to the report, an officer found a vehicle matching the description in the 800 block of Brewster and detained the vehicle and its occupants. The vehicle was found to have damage on the front passenger side and upon talking to the driver, 23-year-old Stephanie Colleen Horne, it was determined that she was intoxicated, police reports state. Horne was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
*11:00am-Brownwood Police received a report of fraudulent purchases on her credit card. According to the report, the complainant signed up for a new credit card on December 23, 2011 and never received it in the mail. The complainant later learned that unauthorized transactions had been made on the card account on or around January 4th, the report states. An investigation is ongoing.
*12:38pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Johnson Street, Tequila Nights Bar, regarding an assault. According to the report, an unknown make was seen holding an unknown female on the ground and was punching her outside of the bar. No information about the suspect or victim could be found at the time of the report.
*7:06pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of Slayden regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown suspect threw eggs at his vehicle. No arrests were made at the time of the report.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 34-year-old Rayford Ballard, Jr. for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
