Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Tuesday, January 25, 2011.

Sunday, January 16

*6:46pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to an accident in the 500 block of Austin Avenue, the Bill Monroe Overpass.  Upon officers’ arrival, a black pick-up was seen with extensive damage to the left side after it collided with the concrete guardrail in the on-ramp of the overpass.   According to police reports, the driver of the pick-up stated that he had been “cut off” by a white passenger car.  The driver stated that he swerved to miss and ended up wrecking his vehicle.

While investigating the scene, police noted that skid marks stretched over 120 feet on an uphill grade, which indicated the truck’s driver was “going well over the speed limit of 40” according to the investigating officer.  Outside of the truck and near the accident scene, police noted a can of TILT alcoholic energy drink that had been ejected from the truck the report states.  Another can of TILT was found in the front left floorboard of the truck and both were found to be opened.  In the back area of the truck was a bottle of MD20/20 red grape wine which contained over half of its contents the report states.  There were two other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

While checking the driver’s history, it was found that he had two prior charges of Possession of Alcohol by a Minor (May 8th and 21st of 2010).  As a result of the investigation, two citations were issued to the driver, Failure to Control Speed and Possession of Alcohol by Minor, 3rd enhanced.  No serious injuries were reported during the accident.

Monday, January 24

*9:30pm-Brownwood Police responded to the 1800 block of Durham Avenue regarding an assault.  The investigation led to an offense report being filed for unlawful restraint.

*5:25pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Belle Plain regarding an assault that had occurred.  According to the report, it was found that the victim had been assaulted by his roommate.  The suspect had left the scene prior to officers’ arrival.  The victim stated that he wished to pursue criminal charges.

*5:33pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of Chandler regarding a burglary.  After an investigation was complete, it was found that entry was not made into the residence the report states.  Two suspects were listed in the attempted burglary.  Charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.

*Early Police arrested 62-year-old Robert Fred Pitts of Brownwood for felony possession of a controlled substance (penalty group 1) in a drug free zone and a charge of possession of a controlled substance (penalty group 3).

*Brownwood Police arrested Bobby Vonzell Tillman of Brownwood for DWI.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
