With the Primary Election quickly approaching in March, the Brownwood and Brown County area is dotted with political signs, many of which have been recently damaged or even stolen from many locations. Brownwood Assistant Chief of Police James Fuller stated that he has personally received many reports of thefts and vandalism to campaign signs. Generally thefts are occurring at residences, according to Fuller. “Each sign does cost and those costs are beginning to add up,” said Fuller who stated it may just be juveniles who are bored while out on Christmas break; however he pointed out that this is still a crime and does cost money to someone. Monday, December 28
*7:38 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy received a report of criminal mischief which occurred at a residence on Killarney Drive near Lake Brownwood. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had “busted out” the back window of her rental car. A possible suspect was named, the report states.
Tuesday, December 29
*12:29 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 100 block of E. Commerce regarding a domestic disturbance. According to the report, a case of assault with injury by strangulation family violence and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence is being investigated.
*1:53 PM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding theft. According to the report, an elderly complainant stated that they were “scammed” out of $1500 over the telephone.
*Brown County Sheriff’s received a report of harassment. According to the report, the complainant stated that her 19-year-old son had been sending her threatening text messages and multiple calls.
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle for a wide turn and failure to signal a single lane change. According to the report, during the stop the deputy observed a glass pipe with white residue in the back floorboard of the vehicle. This stop led to the arrest of three of the passengers in the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Collin Duett of Santa Anna, 21-year-old Kelsey Lockhart of Coleman, and 18-year-old Tracy Watson of Coleman, for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram. Duett was additionally charged with tamper/fabricate physical evidence and arrested on three outstanding Brown County warrants related to no seat belt, violate promise to appear and possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was not arrested and was released from the scene.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Kendra Lynette Peach of Brownwood on warrants related to expired driver’s license and failure to appear.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 40-year-old Richard Allen McDaniel of Brownwood on a warrant related to motion to revoke/driving while intoxicated 2nd.
Wednesday, December 30
*1:01 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2100 block of 10th Street regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the complainant stated that three tires on his vehicle had been “slashed.” A possible suspect was named, the report states.
*2:00 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Savoy Drive regarding a noise nuisance. According to the report, after an investigation an incident of assault with injury family violence was documented.
