Law enforcement arrests and reports released Thursday, December 22, 2011.

Wednesday, December 21

*10:52am-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of cruelty to animals in the 400 block of Main Street in Blanket.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she had driven past horses and noticed that two of them had no hay to eat.  A deputy met with the owners of the horses who stated that the 2-year-old filly was in poor condition when she got it and that she had been unable to get it put on weight, the report states.  She did have hay for the horses and had planned to buy more food soon, according to the report. The deputy instructed the owner to look into worm treatment, possibly contact a veterinarian for an examination for other problems and to provide plenty of food or that she would be held criminally liable for failure to provide food and proper care for the animals, the report states.

*11:58am-Brown County Sheriff’s deputy met with a home health nurse who reported that one of her patients (who is disabled and confined to a wheelchair) had been burglarized and his medications were stolen while he was asleep on December 8th.  Medications taken in the burglary include 45 Oxycotin pills, 30 Alprazolam and 30 Carisoprodol.  Also taken were $70 cash and the patient’s Texas identification card.  The total value of items stolen is estimated at nearly $600 according to the deputy’s report.  The victim is mostly concerned that someone may use his ID to obtain his prescriptions, the report states.

*6:10pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Ash Street regarding a welfare check.  Investigation determined that an assault had taken place between a juvenile female and her father, the report states.    Both subjects were separated and a report filed for Assault Family Violence with Injury.

*8:52pm-Brown County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Avenue B because the right passenger, identified as 19-year-old Esperanza Mindieta, was not wearing a seat belt.  According to the report, consent to search the vehicle was obtained and the deputy located a prescription pill bottle in the suspect’s purse.  The bottle was labeled for Azithromycin and was prescribed to Mindieta; however the two and a half pills inside the bottle were 600mg Ibuprofen which requires a prescription which Mindieta did not have, the report states.  Mindieta was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug.  The driver, identified as 24-year-old Joshua Wayne McDaniel, was also arrested for two outstanding warrants.

Thursday, December 22

*12:26am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1600 block of Avenue A regarding a violation of a protective order.  According to the report, communications advised that the complainant stated that her ex-husband, 48-year-old Daymond Dalelynn Benson, was at her residence and that she has an active protective order against him.  This call led to the arrest of Benson for Violation of a Protective Order.

*2:34am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center regarding a suspicious injury.  According to the report, the officer spoke with a 23-year-old male who originally stated he had fallen on a knife; however investigation determined that he had been stabbed by a 16-year-old juvenile in the 1200 block of 1st Street.  After speaking with the juvenile suspect, the officer found that the juvenile may have been defending himself and accidentally stabbed the victim who was at the hospital for treatment, the report states.  Follow-up of the investigation is pending, according to police.

*3:36am-Brownwood Police were called to the area of 12th Street and Coggin Avenue regarding an assault.  According to the report, both subjects stated they were assaulted by an unknown male.  Investigation located the subject and determined that the incident was a result of mutual combat.  The incident was documented.

*Early Police arrested Thomas Lance Schulze for Driving While Intoxicated with Open Container.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
