Law enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, December 12, 2011.

Friday, December 9

*11:00am-Brownwood Police met a complainant at the law enforcement center who reported an incident of theft.    According to the report, an investigation determined that a diamond solitaire engagement ring had been stolen from his residence.  Two known suspects were named.

*12:09pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Indian Creek, Blaylock Funeral Home, regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that sometime between 5:00pm on December 7th and 8:30am on December 8th, an unknown vehicle struck a pipe fence on the south parking lot of the business.  The complainant did wish to pursue charges if a suspect could be identified.  The complainant estimated it would cost $250 to repair the approximately 30 feet of fence, the report states.

*3:00pm-Brownwood Police spoke with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding credit/ debit card abuse.  According to the report, the complainant stated that a relative had stolen her bank card and her Lone Star Card and was using them both without her permission.  The investigation is continuing.

*4:15pm-Brownwood Police received a report of theft of mail/gift cards totaling $130.  According to the report, the complainant stated that she had never received the gift cards and that the cards were used by an unknown individual online on December 2nd.  The investigation is continuing.

*6:55pm-Brownwood Police responded to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.  According to the report, the loss prevention officer advised that known suspect 18-year-old Kayla Nicole Schultz stole a 40-inch flat screen television from the store.  Schultz was arrested for Theft of Property Greater than $50 Equal or Less than $500. 

*8:14pm-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling in the 200 block of E. Commerce as a part of a Driving While Intoxicated task force.   According to the report, the complainant stated that he had heard a loud noise he thought was a vehicle hitting something.  The complainant stated that he looked toward the sound and saw a woman in a vehicle which had a flat tire, the report states.  The complainant attempted to offer the woman help with fixing the flat; however her speech was very slurred and he could not understand most of what she was saying other than she planned to drive away from the business.  According to the report, the complainant was afraid the woman was intoxicated and that she could hurt herself and possibly others if she drove in her condition.  Police arrived, identified the woman as 55-year-old Schylet Jean Davis, and determined her to be intoxicated possibly from prescription medications, the report states.  Davis was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and submitted to a voluntary blood specimen, which was taken at Brownwood Regional Medical Center, the report states.

*8:36pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Avenue B regarding a domestic disturbance which had just occurred.  According to the report, the victim stated that her boyfriend had punched her in the stomach; however she did not wish to pursue charges at the time of the report.

*Brownwood Police arrested 25-year-old Jose Edwardo Nino of Midland for Driving While Intoxicated.

*1:16pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of illegal dumping.  According to the report, the complainant had found three carcasses of goats in a drainage area below a bridge on County Road 367.

Saturday, December 10

*12:09am-Brownwood Police made a traffic stop for a defective license plate light and an improper right turn in the 1400 block of Magnolia.  According to the report, the driver, identified as 48-year-old Leticia Pineda admitted to drinking and failed several field sobriety tests.  Pineda was arrested for the offense of Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense.

*12:54am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Clements Street regarding a parked vehicle in which occupants had open containers of alcohol.  The vehicle was located and two juvenile passengers were found to be in possession of open beer cans.  The two juveniles were cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and released to a relative. 

*9:34am-Brownwood Police responded to a call of theft in the 1000 block of Vine Street, Depot Liquor.  According to the report, the owner stated that an unknown female had walked into the store around 8:30pm the night before and stole a bottle of liquor.  According to police, two suspects were later identified.  At the owner’s request, a warrant is being sought for the arrest of the actors involved in the theft.

*3:18pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of Avenue I regarding a criminal trespass call.  According to the report, a man had been at the residence who currently has a trespass warning for the property.

*3:50pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1300 block of 16th Street regarding unwanted people at the complainant’s residence.  Further explanation by the complainant was that an ex-girlfriend had been at the residence causing problems.  When officers arrived, the complainant was outside waiting for them and the suspect had left the scene.  Initial investigation showed that the suspect was responsible for Burglary with Intent to Commit Assault, Assault with Injury Family Violence and Criminal Mischief Class B.  No arrest had been made at the time of the report.

*6:57pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding theft.  According to the report, the reporting party who is an employee stated that he had detained a female shoplifter.  The female, identified as 21-year-old Veronica Lee Lyon, was arrested for Theft Equal or Greater than $50 and Less than $500.

*Early Police arrested 56-year-old Paul George Challenger for Disorderly Conduct.

Sunday, December 11

*12:57am-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle due to its driver disregarding a stop sign in the 400 block of N. Fisk Avenue.   According to the report, when the officer made contact with the driver, identified as 23-year-old Jessica Brooke Dillard of Zephyr, she was found to be intoxicated.   Dillard admitted to having been drinking the report states.  Dillard was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated 1st.

*5:22am-A Brownwood Police officer was patrolling in the 1600 block of 3rd Street when he noticed a male run across the road and onto a residence’s yard in an attempt to evade the officer.  This incident led to the arrest of 17-year-old Wesley Troyer for Evading Arrest or Detention and for Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

*7:49am-A Brownwood Police officer was on patrol in the area of 3rd Street and Avenue H when he noticed a pile of debris in the road.  Upon investigation of the debris, he found it to be animal carcasses which included 11 white tail deer heads, 2 deer torsos, a pile of entrails, and a coyote torso which had been skinned and left in the road.  A Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden was contacted, evidence at the scene was gathered and the investigation was turned over to the game warden.   Possible suspects have been named.

*1:18pm-Brown County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Brownwood Regional Medical Center regarding a female who had been brought to the emergency room after sustaining a gunshot to her left arm.  According to the report, the woman was believed to be involved in a hunting accident.  A couple had gone hunting and when the man attempted to remove his gun from the ATV, it accidentally discharged with some of the shrapnel from the bullet hitting her in the arm, the report states.  Brown County Sheriff’s deputies and Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens were called to investigate the incident. 

BCSO officials warn the public to exercise caution when hunting.  “This incident is a reminder how quick things can happen.  With hunting season open people, especially those taking children hunting, need to be reminded to use extra care when handling firearms,” said Sgt. Lana Guthrie of the BCSO.

*2:46pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2000 block of US Hwy 377S regarding a theft call.  According to the report, the complainant stated that he had left his wallet on the counter after making a purchase and the next customer in line stole his wallet and its contents.

*Brownwood Police responded to a call regarding suspicious activity in the 2500 block of 1st Street which led to an ongoing investigation of the burglary of a habitation by a known suspect.

*Brownwood Police arrested 37-year-old Cody Paul Cass of Early for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Travis J. Lujan of Stephenville for Possession of Marijuana Greater than 4 oz. Less than or Equal to 5 lbs.

All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
