Law enforcement reports and arrests released November 30, 2011.
Monday, November 28
*7:21pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the Wal-Mart parking lot regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, the officer spoke with a witness who stated that he had seen a dark colored Jeep Grand Cherokee turn down the row 9 and struck a parked Lincoln, moving it about five feet, then reversed and struck another car parked beside the Lincoln. The suspect vehicle then left the scene without trying to contact either owner of the unoccupied parked cars, the report states. While investigating the accident, parts including its license plate broke off of the suspect vehicle during the accident and were located near the damaged cars according to police.
According to the officer’s report, the vehicle was located and it was determined that the driver and passenger of the suspect vehicle were two juvenile females. Once located, the driver stated that the steering wheel had locked up causing her to hit the first vehicle and that she was scared so she left the scene, the report states. The owner of the Cherokee had insurance and stated that he would pay for the damages. Dispatch could not find a valid driver’s license for the driver or the passenger, according to the report. The juvenile driver will be prosecuted for Leaving the Scene of an Accident, the report states.
Tuesday, November 29
*8:58am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of 1st Street regarding the burglary of a vehicle. Investigation showed that someone had entered the vehicle during the night and took several items, the report states.
*10:29am-A Brownwood Police officer while patrolling in the 1700 block of 4th Street observed a vehicle traveling south with an expired registration and expired inspection sticker. According to the report, the officer made a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, identified as 55-year-old Debra Lynn Smart, stated that she had no insurance and that her driver’s license was “no good,” the report states. The officer confirmed this with dispatch and Smart was subsequently arrested for Driving While License Invalid/Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
*3:03pm-Brownwood Police received a report of found property in the 2500 block of Vine Street. According to the report, a bicycle was found in the roadway near the intersection of Cary Street and Vine Street. The officer transported the bicycle to the Brownwood Police Department where it was placed into the impound for safekeeping until its owner can properly identify and claim it.
*5:27pm-Brownwood Police was dispatched to the 1400 block of Avenue I regarding a bicycle that had been stolen from the residence.
*5:53pm-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding a theft that had occurred. According to the report, an unknown subject stole her laptop from her residence. A possible suspect was named; however no arrest had been made at the time of the report.
*Rising Star Police arrested 43-year-old Dennis Brown Harrison III of Euless for Driving While Intoxicated 2nd and Prohibited Weapon, Switchblade.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 48-year-old Richard Nowland for Possession of Marijuana less than 2oz.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested Ian Marshall Davis for Driving While License Invalid and for an active warrant.
All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
