Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, November 22, 2010.
Thursday, November 18
*6:04pm-Brownwood Police responded to 401 W. Commerce regarding a terroristic threat. After investigation it was determined that Disorderly Conduct was a more suitable charge and the complainant was referred to Municipal Court.
Friday, November 19
*11:00am-Brownwood City Marshal Dean Kilburn was attempting to locate 21-year-old Jayton Roberts regarding four outstanding warrants. Kilburn arrived at an apartment complex on Slayden and Kilburn soon made contact with Roberts. The police report states that as Kilburn waited for Roberts to get dressed, he noted a baggie of marijuana on the floor. Roberts was arrested for the four outstanding warrants as well as Possession of Marijuana, less than 2 oz.
*11:03am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the Truman Harlow Overpass on Hwy 377 regarding an Intoxicated Driver. The officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 3600 block of Hwy 377. This stop led to the arrest of 58-year-old Steven Lynn Haas for Driving While Intoxicated.
*1:40pm-Brownwood Police received a report from the principal at the Brownwood Alternative High School that a student stated that she believed her cell phone had been stolen.
*2:06pm-Brownwood Police responded to a local nursing home and spoke with a complainant who provided information in regard to a family member of a resident who has made inappropriate and threatening comments directed to the staff and derogatory comments toward a patient, a relative. The complainant advised that Adult Protective Services has been contacted on the patient’s behalf for mental abuse. The nursing home staff requested a criminal trespass warning be issued to the suspect who had left the property prior to officers’ arrival. APS has instructed the facility not to allow the suspect to make contact with the patient until an investigation is completed.
*6:30pm-Dispatch at the Law Enforcement Center received two wallets from an anonymous person. The wallets were reported to have been found in the Commerce Square shopping center parking lot. Personal items in the wallets identified the owners. Attempts to contact the owners were unsuccessful and the wallets were placed into the BPD evidence lockers.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a complainant regarding harassing phone calls. The complainant stated she received two obscene phone calls at 1:30am 11/19/2010 from a male who had stated that he had been following the woman for over a month. The complainant was concerned for her own as well as her family’s safety.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office met with a complainant at their residence regarding damage to the complainant’s property by a neighbor’s donkeys. The property damaged was a bird bath, turned over pots and a chain link fence. The animals had already been moved by a caretaker who stated he was told to let the animals out to graze in the park area of the neighborhood. The owner was contacted and advised that she is responsible for the damage caused by the animals because they were intentionally let out. Charges of reckless damage are being filed due to the number of calls and notification to the owner about the animals being out.
Saturday, November 20
*10:10am-A Brownwood Police officer while on patrol in the 1000 block of Carnegie noticed a man walking inside of a large fence, which was 10’ tall, and designed to keep people out of the local railroad property. The officer drove into the property; however, the man jumped the fence in attempt to evade the officer the report states. The fence was cleared by the subject but upon landing, the man landed on the ground breaking both of his heals according to police. Following this incident, the man identified as 24-year-old Manual Salazar was arrested for Criminal Trespass and Evading Arrest/Detention and two outstanding warrants.
*12:53pm-Brownwood Police were called to a local fast food restaurant regarding a harassment report. The manager and an employee stated that the restaurant has received approximately 30-40 phone calls during the past several months from a male suspect who made obscene and profane comments to the female employees. No suspect information is known at this time.
*A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence in May in reference to a burglary of a habitation. The complainant stated that while he and his wife were away from the house, someone had entered their house and stolen a television out of the living room. There were no signs of forced entry at the residence. The value of the television, which was a flat screen model was approximately $1500.
Sunday, November 21
*4:14pm-Brownwood Police were called to the Howard Payne University cafeteria regarding a subject that refused to leave according to police reports. An officer arrived to find the subject, identified as 19-year-old Johnathan Shayne Holland, speaking with the HPU security officer on duty. Holland was highly agitated and failed to comply with the officer’s instruction the report states. Holland was placed under arrest and charged with Resisting Arrest and Criminal Trespass.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
