Monday, January 5

*10:28 AM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant regarding identification theft.  According to the report, an unknown subject borrowed money in the complainant’s name.

Thursday, January 8

*1:44 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Coggin Avenue, Domino’s Pizza, regarding a forged check.  Two suspects have been identified and the incident is under investigation, the report states.

*9:06 PM – Brown County Sheriff’s deputies responded to LaBotana Restaurant regarding suspicious activity.  According to the report, the deputies were advised of four males who were talking when one of the males stated that he was going to get a gun from his vehicle.  A description of the male who made the statement along with a description of his vehicle was provided by the complainants and the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle from leaving; however, it sped off out of the parking lot and a short pursuit was initiated, the report states.  The vehicle drove through the Whataburger parking lot and then traveled west bound on East Commerce toward Brownwood, and eventually came to a stop in the parking lot of Doughnut Palace in the 200 block of E. Commerce, the report states.  The driver, identified by his Mexico ID card as 41-year-old Ladislao Herrerra-Belgara of Brownwood, had a strong odor of alcohol and red watery eyes, according to the deputy’s report.  Herrera-Belgara admitted to consuming 4 sweet mixed drinks containing whiskey within an hour and failed standard field sobriety tests, the report states.   A blood specimen was collected at Brownwood Regional Medical Center and Herrera-Belgara was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated as well as evading arrest or detention with vehicle.

*Early Police Department responded to an accident at River Oaks and Gorman Dr. According to the report, upon arrival officers learned that the vehicle fled the scene. The area was checked and officers located the vehicle at an apartment in the 1000 block of Early Blvd., the report states. The driver, identified as 48-year-old Joaquin Pesina III of Brownwood, admitted to the accident and driving away as well as having drank alcohol, according to the report.  Pesina was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated, driving while license invalid, fail to yield right of way and leaving the scene of accident.

Friday, January 9

*10:09 AM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  According to the report, the burglary occurred sometime overnight while the vehicle was parked in the 2700 block of Greenway Drive.

*10:43 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling north on Fisk Street.  According to the report, 30-year-old Bobby Jack Smith of Gardendale stated that he did not have a driver’s license, only an ID card.  Dispatch confirmed that Smith’s license had been suspended for driving while license invalid, no insurance.  Smith was arrested for driving while license invalid no insurance.  During an inventory of the vehicle, the deputy found three bags which contained synthetic marijuana (K-2) and a smokeless cigarette, which had been modified to smoke the synthetic marijuana, the report states.  Smith was additionally charged with possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*2:31 PM – Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding child abuse/neglect.  According to the report, the complainant advised that he believes a known subject physically abused his son.

*3:40 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1400 block of Austin Avenue, Brookshire’s grocery store, regarding theft.  According to the report, a male subject was located and identified who later admitted to the theft.  The male was issued a citation for the theft as well as a criminal trespass warning for the business.

*4:42 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1600 block of 4th Street regarding a traffic violation.  According to the report, the driver, 34-year-old Brady Perkins of Valera, provided a false name to police and was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine as well as driving with a suspended driver’s license.  Perkins was arrested for failure to identify – fugitive intentionally provides false information, possession of a controlled substance, and driving while license invalid with a previous conviction.

*6:35 PM – A Brownwood Police officer observed a vehicle driving west on Belle Plain which ran over the curb then swerved back into the right-hand lane.  According to the report, the officer made a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of the driver, identified as 36-year-old Daniel Matthew Simcox, Jr. of Brownwood, for driving while intoxicated with a passenger under the age of 15.

* 6:42 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Bluffview Drive regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the suspect had fled the scene.

*10:12 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol when he noticed a vehicle with defective equipment traveling north on Belle Plain Street.  A traffic stop was made which resulted in the arrest of Coy Lynn Welker for possession or delivery of drug paraphernalia, the report states.  Welker was also issued a citation for possession of an alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 17-year-old Ryan E. Layton of Brownwood for failure to attend school.

*Brownwood Police arrested 21-year-old Christopher B. Rose of Brownwood on a warrant related to manufacture delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 equal or greater than 1 gram less than 4 grams in a drug free zone.  Rose was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond as of Monday morning.

Saturday, January 10

*7:17 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3900 block of South US Hwy 377 regarding the burglary of a habitation.  The complainant stated that his camper trailer had been broken into sometime during the overnight hours and numerous firearms were stolen along with several other items.

*10:17 AM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the area of Brick and Gifford Streets after a traffic violation.  According to the report, during the stop, the driver, later identified as 28-year-old Juan Jose Garcia of Brownwood, lied to police about his identity and was found to be driving the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.  Garcia was arrested for the offenses of failure to identify and driving while license invalid with a previous conviction.

*12:41 AM – A Brownwood Police officer observed a pickup speeding (47 mph in a 40 mph) on Cordell Street and subsequently made a traffic stop on the vehicle.  This call led to the arrest of 45-year-old Jerry Nickerson of Brownwood for driving while intoxicated 2nd and for driving while license suspended with previous convictions.

*2:00 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding the theft of a firearm.  According to the report, the firearm had been stolen from the complainant’s residence and later located at a local pawn shop.   A suspect has been identified.

*3:37 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to Big G Grocery Store on Hwy 279 regarding unwanted subjects.  According to the report, two juveniles were issued criminal trespass warnings at management’s request after they attempted to purchase a tobacco product in spite of being under 17 years of age.  One of the juveniles began yelling profanities inside the store and both were told to leave the store and not return.

*6:22 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Walmart regarding theft.  According to the report, this call led to the suspect being issued a citation for theft less than $50 and then was allowed to leave.

* 9:00 PM – Early Police Corporal Brandon McMillian stopped a vehicle for speeding and swerving on the roadway.   According to the report, when Cpl. McMillian approached the vehicle he could smell an odor of marijuana coming from it.  During the investigation, McMillian asked the driver, identified as 27-year-old Catlin James Mobley of Smithville, if he had marijuana inside the vehicle, and Mobley stated he did not, McMillian reported.  Mobley granted consent to search his vehicle which led to the discovery of a small amount of marijuana in the console along with a small locked safe in the vehicle, according to the report.  McMillian asked Mobley if he would consent to unlock the safe and Mobley asked if he had a right to refuse, to which McMillian advised him that he did have a right to refuse, the report stated.  Mobley asked, “what if there is pot inside?” and McMillian explained the laws regarding marijuana to him, the report states.  Mobley consented to searching the safe where inside was located 110 grams of Hash, according to the report. Mobley was placed under arrest for possession of controlled substance penalty group 2 over 4 grams under 200 grams (a 2nd degree felony), along with driving with invalid driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*11:07 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Vincent Street regarding a runaway juvenile.

*Brownwood Police arrested 48-year-old Alfred Benites Aguirre of Brownwood on warrants related to public display/consumption of alcohol in a state park and failure to appear on class C offense.

*Brown County sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old Trevor Don Egger of Brownwood for possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Early Police arrested 31-year-old Robert Douglas Forester of Corpus Christi on a warrant related to driving while intoxicated 3rd.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 32-year-old James Edward Long on a State of Arkansas parole warrant.

*Bangs Police arrested 29-year-old Justin Tyler Williams of Bangs on warrants related to two counts of failure to appear, driving while license invalid and failure to maintain financial responsibility.

*Brownwood Police arrested 25-year-old Juan Alberto Zuniga of Brownwood on warrants related to public intoxication and failure to appear.

Sunday, January 11

*1:01 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Melwood Drive regarding a hit and run accident.  According to the report, an investigation revealed that a vehicle slid through the intersection of Beaver and Melwood Streets and into a yard, damaging a street sign and a brick pillar.  The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to police arrival, the report states.

*12:17 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop for a violation in the 1000 block of Lackey Street, as well as on the belief that a wanted person was in the vehicle.  During this stop, 43-year-old Melinda Kay Ford Crosby of Brownwood was arrested for an outstanding Brown County warrant and was additionally charged with possession of a dangerous drug, the report states.  .

*4:05 PM – Brownwood Police responded to an accident in the area of Austin Avenue and Beaver Street.  According to the report, while en route, officers were advised that the subject had gotten into a black pickup and fled the scene.

*8:12 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Walmart regarding theft.  According to the report, this call led to the arrest of 44-year-old Stephanie Renee Lopez of Comanche for theft equal or greater than $500 less than $1500.  It was also determined that Lopez had a criminal trespass warning for the address, subsequently Lopez was also charged with criminal trespass, the report states.  According to the report, items stolen included personal care items, dog food, various hand and power tools, beer, makeup, art supplies and beef jerky.

*9:18 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of 7th Street regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, this call led to the arrest of 24-year-old Brandon Stevens of Brownwood for assault family violence causing bodily injury.

*9:20 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 3500 block of Golding Road regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the homeowner stated that a window had been broken prior to officers’ arrival.

*9:45 PM – Brownwood Police were called to an accident in the 400 block of W. Commerce where a vehicle had been involved in a two-vehicle accident.  While they were on the way to this location, responding officers learned that the suspect vehicle had fled the scene.  The suspect was later identified as 33-year-old Christian Danlee Weber of Brownwood when his vehicle was observed a short time later by Early Police after being involved in another accident at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 183/84 and the Access Road, according to law enforcement.   Weber was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid, driving while intoxicated, and flee the scene of accident.  Weber was being held in the Brown County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $5500.

*11:34 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy made a traffic stop in the driveway of a residence on Hwy 183 in May.  During the course of the stop, the driver, identified as 31-year-old Amy Ann Gilmore of May, verbally and physically resisted lawful detention and search, the report states.  Gilmore was placed under arrest for resisting arrest, search or transport.

*11:42 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Depot regarding the burglary of a habitation.  According to the report, the burglary was believed to have occurred between January 8th and this date.

*Brownwood Police arrested 42-year-old Joseph Nicholas Castaneda, Jr. of Brownwood on warrants related to no driver’s license and driving while license invalid.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 42-year-old Daryle Eugene Dumas for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old James Lee Kinsey of Brownwood for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram, unlawful carrying weapon, possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces, driving while license invalid/suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia.

*Brownwood Police arrested 39-year-old Danny Salas of Brownwood on warrants related to failure to appear, failure to maintain financial responsibility, expired registration and expired driver’s license.

*Brownwood Police arrested 39-year-old October Tobie Salazar of Brownwood on warrants related to manufacture delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone and failure to appear/possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.

*Brownwood Police arrested 43-year-old Gary Dean Smith of Brownwood on a warrant related to theft.

Monday, January 12

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 51-year-old Matt M. Muckleroy of San Antonio on a warrant related to contempt of court.
