LECSmBrownwood Police made a traffic stop Thursday morning in the area of Austin Avenue and Center Avenue regarding a traffic violation.  According to the report, the officer noticed some bolt cutters, black gloves and copper wiring in the vehicle which was suspicious, the report states.  The driver of the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Charles Thomas Mason, stated that he and the passenger, 21-year-old Jesse Michael Coppic had just left a local scrap yard.  A consensual search of the vehicle found a checkbook that did not belong to either of the men; however contained two checks that had been written and signed by the owner of the checkbook, the report states.  One of the men had a blank check from the checkbook in his jacket pocket as well, the report states.  When the officer contacted the owner of the checkbook, he confirmed that it was missing and stated that he did not know either of the payees listed on the two checks that were in the checkbook.

Coppic and Mason were both arrested, charged with forgery of a financial instrument and stealing/receiving stolen check.  Coppic was also found to be wanted on warrants out of Tom Green County for criminal mischief equal to or greater than $500 and Brown County for motion to adjudicate/possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.

Coppic was issued a trespass warning by Brown County Sheriff’s Office earlier in the week for a property in Blanket and is currently on probation.

*1:46 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of 7th Street regarding the theft of an iPad.

Wednesday, November 13

*10:07 AM – Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft at a property on County Road 218.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her house cleaner had stolen approximately $1929 worth of jewelry from her residence while cleaning the residence around the date of October 31st.  The complainant wished to pursue charges, the report states.

*3:00 A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call regarding an unwanted person which resulted in the issuance of a criminal trespass warning to 34-year-old Mary Nichole Culp for the address.  Very soon after the trespass warning was issued, the deputy was dispatched to the 9000 block of Hwy 279N regarding a female who had been arguing with an unidentified male subject at the convenience store.  According to the report, the deputy made contact with the woman, identified as Mary Culp at the intersection of County Road 456 and Hwy 279.  After determining Culp was intoxicated, she was arrested and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest/search/transport, the report states.

Thursday, November 14

*5:38 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2200 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant had been contacted by a subject that identified themselves with the complainant’s energy provider.  The complainant was told to pay $860.49 in order to keep his power from being disconnected, the report states.  The complainant followed the suspect’s instructions and later found that the payment had not gone to the electric provider, according to police reports.  The complainant wished to pursue charges if a suspect can be identified.

*6:49 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of LaMonte Drive regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an unknown subject had stolen her iPod off of her front porch.  A possible suspect was identified; however, denied any involvement in the theft, the report states.

*7:48 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft.  According to the report, a male suspect had left the store without paying for two cases of beer valued at $18.47 and had fled the scene in a pickup.  The suspect could not be located, the report states.

*8:16 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Borden Street regarding theft.  According to the report, the complainant stated that an acquaintance had entered her residence and stolen her television.  The television was located in a neighbor’s back yard and after an investigation, 35-year-old Billy Joe Brummett was placed under arrest for theft of property equal or greater than $50 less than $500.

*8:47 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of Penn Street regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, the complainant stated that her common-law husband had assaulted her; however she was not cooperative with officers and would not provide the details.  The male subject had fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival, the report states.  After an investigation, a report was completed for assault with injury family violence by strangulation, according to police.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a scam regarding an electric bill.  According to the deputy’s report, the complainant stated that she was delinquent on her bill and was told to make an immediate payment of $500 using a Money Pak card.  The complainant followed the caller’s instructions and gave the Money Pak redemption code to the calling party, the report states.  She stated that she believes she was scammed out of a total of $504.95, according to the report.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 52-year-old John Phillip Couch for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1 equal or greater than 1 gram in a drug free zone and evading arrest/detention with previous conviction.

*Brownwood Police arrested 21-year-old Kellye Holloway on a warrant related to failure to maintain financial responsibility.

*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 71-year-old Sabina Marquez-Cruz on a warrant related to failure to appear.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 43-year-old Destiny Raeline Mayfield on a warrant related to motion to revoke/possession of marijuana/failure to identify.

Friday, November 15

*6:37 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of 13th Street regarding a domestic disturbance.  According to the report, both parties involved were contacted and it was determined that 26-year-old Christopher Cantu had assaulted the complainant.  Cantu was arrested and charged with assault family violence.

*Early Police arrested 22-year-old Zachary Ramond Maxey of Mullin for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 2A equal or less than 2 ounces and possession of drug paraphernalia.
