Thursday, October 7

* 11:15pm- Brownwood Police arrested a man Thursday for possession of marijuana after fleeing from an officer.  A Brownwood Police officer stopped the suspect’s vehicle on the corner of 2nd Street and Avenue G after it ran a stop sign police reports state.  The driver, identified as 30-year-old Jason Guerrero was getting out of the car, hesitated, and then fled on foot across a parking lot.  Police said that the officer chased the suspect and was able to catch up with Guerrero when he lost his footing in the parking lot.  The police report states that Guerrero did not obey the officer’s commands to lie flat on the ground, only got to his knees, and the officer then struck him in the chest with his knee causing him to fall backward.  The officer then drew his taser and ordered Guerrero to roll onto his stomach in order to arrest him for evading arrest.

When asked why he ran, Guerrero told police that he had been drinking and didn’t have a driver’s license.  He was arrested for Evading Arrest and DWI.

Upon review of the iCOP video, police said that Guerrero was observed carrying a white cup which was not in his possession when he was arrested; leading officers to believe that he had done something with it.  In searching the area of the foot pursuit, the officer found a cup in the parking lot which contained a green and yellow bag which was later identified as a Pampers Swaddlers bag.  Inside this bag was a small trash bag containing marijuana.  The officer seized these items and contacted a narcotics investigator.  The marijuana was taken to BPD to be weighed which totaled 15.5 oz.  Charges of Possession of Marijuana greater than 4 oz, less than 5 lbs were added to his arrest.  The area of the foot pursuit was rechecked and nothing further was found.

*4:42am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1100 block of Booker Street regarding found property.  A bag with several miscellaneous items was received and turned into BPD as found property.

*9:45am-Brownwood Police spoke with a complainant at 700 Avenue A regarding unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.  Stolen/received was the complainant’s pickup, valued at $10,000.

*4:00pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1400 block of Austin regarding a theft that had occurred at a local grocery store.  2 subjects were issued Criminal Trespass Warnings and one was issued a citation for theft less than $50.  Stolen was a box of tampons valued at $3.09.

*9:26pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Austin Avenue and issued criminal trespass warnings to two subjects at the request of the owner of the property.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a complainant that his niece and a male accomplice had taken his car without his consent around September 17, 2010.  The complainant stated the vehicle was taken about three weeks ago and that he did not report it immediately because he felt his niece would bring back the car; however, she had not.  She was accompanied by a male when the vehicle was taken.  The vehicle has been put into the database as a stolen vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

*9:51pm-Brown County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in progress.  Upon arrival, the suspect stated that she had gotten into an argument over a vehicle that belonged to the victim.  The suspect stated that the victim had hit her; however there were no signs of physical violence on the female who was later identified as 66-year-old Lynne Thiele Loe.  Police reports state that the victim stated that Loe had started to “go crazy” and began to slap him in the face area.  A slight redness on the forehead area of the victim was present.  Police reports state that the female was determined to be the primary aggressor and was placed under arrest for Assault Family Violence and taken to the Brown County Jail.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
