Thursday, October 1
*9:15 AM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy received a report of found property, several credit cards were found.
*3:28 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the area of 11th Street and Avenue D regarding defective tail lights (which had been blacked out). The vehicle’s registration was also found to be expired, the report states. This stop led to the arrest of 22-year-old Amber Canon for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and possession of a controlled substance penalty group 3 less than 28 grams, according to the report.
*3:40 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy met with a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding credit/debit card abuse. According to the report, someone has been charging fuel and other items to his Valero credit card without his consent.

*8:58 AM – Brownwood Police received a report by telephone regarding theft. According to the report, a male suspect advised that an unknown subject had stolen his check book the day before.
*11:39 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 4000 block of 8th Street regarding fraud. According to the report, the complainant stated that their Valero fuel card had been used in Los Angeles, California.
*10:26 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a property on N. Hwy 279 regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, the owner of the building stated that a large window on the front of the building had been shattered. There was no evidence of entry or possible suspects. The estimated damage is $300.
*10:26 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a property on E. Hwy 377 in Blanket regarding physical domestic disturbance. According to the report, this call led to the arrest of 43-year-old James Wayne Box of Brownwood for assault with bodily injury family violence.
*12:24 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that a maintenance man stole several dollars worth of tools.
*1:14 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop on a semi truck near the intersection of S. US Hwy 377 and Avenue D. According to the report, during the stop, the driver was found to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated. The driver, identified as 47-year-old Gilberto Ortiz of Dallas was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 27-year-old William Brayden Daniel of Bangs on a surety withdrawal related to resisting arrest.
*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 46-year-old Nicona Lanese Hoover of Bangs for driving while intoxicated.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27-year-old Brian Kinsey of Early on warrants related to failure to appear/aggravated assault with deadly weapon and fugitive from justice (Oklahoma).
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 36-year-old Jason Eric Mellor of Talpa on warrants related to unlawful possession of a firearm by felon and delivery of a controlled substance.
*22-year-old Jonathan Andrew Ortega was arrested on a warrant related to possession of marijuana greater than 4 ounces equal or less than 5 pounds/probation commitment.
*21-year-old William Demarcus Whinery turned himself in on a warrant related to a probation violation.
Saturday, October 3
*6:07 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to a residence no Avenue G regarding injury to a child. According to the report, the complainant advised that his child had been abused.
*1:22 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1800 block of 1st Street regarding criminal mischief.
*4:16 PM – A Brown County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a missing rear license plate. According to the report, the driver, identified as 18-year-old Nathan Cole Culp of Brownwood, consented to a search of the vehicle. The deputy located a plastic and glass pipe with residue in Culp’s left front pants pocket along with two small baggies containing a crystalline substance which did not field test positive for cocaine base or methamphetamine, the report states. Several glass pipes were also located and one of them field tested positive for methamphetamine. Culp was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram.
*4:21 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Savoy Drive regarding possible narcotics being sold at the apartment complex. According to the report, officers arrived and made contact with two subjects and located a small amount of marijuana. 58-year-old Remus Skelton of Brownwood was arrested for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and 27-year-old Kayla Berrier of Gorhman was arrested on an outstanding warrant related to narcotics.
*5:55 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding theft. According to the report, after an investigation a citation was issued for theft less than $100.
*11:24 PM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Belle Plain Street regarding a vehicle that had been spinning its tires in the parking lot of a convenience store. The officers initiated the traffic stop after an alcoholic beverage bottle was thrown from the vehicle. The driver admitted that the passenger had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver was issued a citation for exhibition of acceleration (spinning tires) and the passenger was issued a citation for consumption of alcohol by minor.
*11:47 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the 1800 block of Durham Avenue regarding stalking.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Brandon Lee Beam for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and possession of a dangerous drug.
*Brownwood Police arrested 24-year-old Jennifer Tucker-Matthews of Sweetwater, Texas on warrants related to two counts of theft greater than $50 less than $500.
Sunday, October 4
*6:16 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 4300 block of Brookdale Street regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant stated that identification cards, debit/credit cards and checks had been stolen.
*10:36 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Coggin Avenue regarding an assault which had already occurred as a result of a citizens’ dispute.
*12:43 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of W. Mayes regarding the burglary of a habitation. According to the report, the complainant stated that a known suspect had broken into his brother’s home earlier in the day.
*1:40 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Avenue E regarding an assault. According to the report, after interviewing both parties, police arrested Maria Solis for assault causing bodily injury family violence.
*7:30 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of Avenue K regarding to a burglary in progress. According to the report, a male and two females were seen taking items out of the vacant residence and transporting them to another home on 6th Street. The suspects claimed to have permission to remove property after a renter had left the residence; however, the property manager and owner stated no one was allowed inside the residence at the time of the report. As a result of this call, 34-year-old Amy Platter, 54-year-old Jacky Platter and 60-year-old Brenda Hutchens were arrested for burglary of a habitation, the report states.
*43-year-old Doris Denise Ortega of Early turned herself in on a warrant related to motion to revoke/possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*Brownwood Police arrested 52-year-old Maria Solis of Brownwood for assault causes bodily injury family violence.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 30-year-old Julian Allen Staggs of Brownwood on a warrant related to possession of drug paraphernalia.
Monday, October 5
* Brownwood Police arrested 24-year-old Donald Bagwell on Tom Green County warrants related to motion to adjudicate/resist arrest, surety withdrawal/evading arrest, and surety withdrawal/resist arrest.
*Brownwood Police arrested 27-year-old Charles Mitchels of Brownwood on warrants related to assault causes bodily injury family violence (Pecos County), driving while intoxicated (Ector County) and failure to appear (Ector County).
