Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Friday, October 29, 2010.

Tuesday, October 19

*3:29pm-Brownwood Police were called to 401 W. Commerce regarding criminal mischief.  The complainant stated that she had parked in the Wal-Mart parking lot and went into the store. Upon her return, found that her rear windshield had been busted out sometime during the day.  She stated that she did not have a phone with her so she left the scene of the accident to get a friend who had a phone, then called the police and returned to Wal-Mart to report the accident.  The officer noted that there was also damage to the center area of the spoiler and center of the bumper.  This damage was similar to damage caused by backing into an item such as a light pole the report states.  There was no glass found on the parking lot and more information was needed to check surveillance video.  The woman could not remember where she parked and was to call the officer with the information.   No accident report was filed due to noncompliance by the complainant and lack of information such as time and place of the accident.

Monday, October 25

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center who requested to have two criminal trespass warnings issued to a family member and their friend who have been coming to the complainant’s home and causing trouble such as yelling and cussing at the complainant and her granddaughter.  Upon the complainant’s request a BCSO deputy issued a trespass warning to both people.

Wednesday, October 27

*4:54pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Bonita regarding theft.  Investigation determined that a weed eater had been taken from a garage between the hours of 5:00-5:30pm.  Possible suspect information was obtained.

*A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop at Stephen F. Austin and Calvert for numerous traffic violations the police report states.  The driver was identified as 50-year-old Mellissa Scaff Sawyer who was subsequently arrested for Driving While License Invalid with previous convictions.

*Brownwood Police arrested 22-year-old Joe Dale Smith for Driving While License Invalid with Previous Convictions.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence regarding a theft of parts from an air conditioning unit.  The complainant stated that sometime since Tuesday, October 26th, the parts had been stolen from the air conditioner which was kept under his sister’s carport while the complainant was working on it.  The parts are estimated to be worth approximately $300.

* A Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to FM 2525 in reference to the theft of a goat.  The complainant stated that around 9:00am he did a head count on the goats he raises for show goats and found that one was missing.  The complainant reported that he remembered doing a quick count on the goats Sunday and that all the goats were there.  All the gates were pad locked and  all electric fences were up and in working condition along all sides of the property.  There were minor car tracks seen through the high grass near the gate but it was not able to be determined if the tracks were from general traffic or were related in any way.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Office conducted a probation search at Brownwood Manor which resulted in the arrest of 31-year-old David Reynolds for credit card abuse.  The incident is still under investigation.

Thursday, October 28

*10:16pm-Bronwwood Police conducted a traffic stop in the 500 block of Walnut Street on a male driving a motorcycle for disregarding a stop sign according to the police report.  After an investigation, the driver, identified as 28-year-old Jason Paul Young, was found to be in possession of a “butterfly” knife which was found to be a prohibited weapon.  Young was arrested and charged with being in possession of a prohibited weapon.

*Brownwood Police were dispatched to 401 W. Commerce, Wal-Mart, regarding shoplifting.  The loss prevention officer had a woman, identified as 21-year-old Brenda Marie Russell, in custody regarding theft.  The loss prevention officer had noted the woman had a large purse and diaper bag which he saw her put items into and then attempt to leave the store without paying the report states.  The items included $115 of women’s clothing, Doe Estrus spray, valued at $10.97ea and Amazing Adhesive Breast inserts valued at $23.46.  The total value of the items was $160.40.  The report states that Russell told the BPD officer that she had attempted to steal the items for a friend, and she did not have the money to purchase them and did not intend to pay for the items.  Russell was arrested for theft over $50, less than $500 and issued a criminal trespass warning for Wal-Mart.  The store does intend to prosecute for the theft.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
