Brownwood Police arrested 40-year-old Angela Ontiveros on charges of driving while intoxicated and accident involving serious bodily injury after a hit-and-run accident that injured a pedestrian early Sunday morning.
According to Brownwood Police reports, Ontiveros was driving in the 2700 block of Belmeade when her vehicle struck a pedestrian at approximately 1:00 a.m. The pedestrian was a 21-year-old male subject who received injuries including cuts to his head and one leg.
As the hit-and-run accident was dispatched, an officer nearby located a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle’s description (having a broken or damaged headlight) driving away from the area of Belmeade toward Southside Drive and made a traffic stop, the report states. The driver, identified as Ontiveros, was found to be intoxicated and failed several sobriety tests, the report states. She admitted that she had been drinking at a party earlier in the evening and was headed home, according to the report.
When asked if she had been in an accident, Ontiveros stated that she was not aware of any damage to her vehicle, the report states. Ontiveros was then arrested for driving while intoxicated and taken to BRMC for a blood sample. The report states that Ontiveros refused to give a blood sample and the officer obtained a warrant to secure the sample.
After transport to the Brown County Jail, Ontiveros was informed that she was also being charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury, the report states. Ontiveros was released from the Brown County Jail Sunday on bonds totaling $10,000.In other unrelated law enforcement reports and arrests released Monday, October 28, 2013.

*Brownwood Police were dispatched to a follow up on the burglary of a building in the 2600 block of Morris Sheppard Drive. The complainant reported that approximately 16 window units had been stolen from the unoccupied building. The value of the stolen property was estimated at approximately $2400, according to the report. No suspect information was available at the time of the report.
*32-year-old Maria Del Jesus Buitron turned herself in on a warrant for her arrest related to failure to appear/theft of services equal or greater than $500 less than $1500.
Friday, October 25
*11:48 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Slayden Street regarding the burglary of a habitation. According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had entered her home and stolen her jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry and no suspect information, the report states.
*25-year-old Justin Wayne Maly turned himself in on a warrant related to failure to appear/resist arrest/search /transport.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 21-year-old Caleb Keith Pittman of May for possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
*Early Police arrested 25-year-old Meghann Sharp for driving while intoxicated 2nd and expired driver’s license.
*Brownwood Police arrested 55-year-old Mary Sue Taylor for criminal trespass.
* Saturday, October 26
*1:46 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Hawkins Street regarding an assault. According to the report, the complainant stated that her boyfriend had assaulted her and there were injuries to her face. The suspect was not able to be located at the time of the report.
*5:06 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of 8th Street regarding an unwanted person. According to the report, 19-year-old Dustin Scott Atkins was a residence where he had an active criminal trespass warning. This call led to the arrest of Atkins for criminal trespass.
*6:45 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1700 block of Main Street regarding a citizen’s dispute. This call led to the arrest of Demestric Hall for public intoxication.
*6:52 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 900 block of Avenue B regarding a citizens’ dispute. According to the report, the complainant stated that known suspects had come into her home and assaulted her.
*The Brownwood City Marshal arrested 27-year-old Fay Marie Flores on warrants related to no driver’s license and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
*22-year-old Sabrina Tywan Lewis of Dallas turned herself in on warrants related to failure to appear/possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear/theft of property equal to or greater than $50 less than $500, motion to adjudicate/forgery, theft of property equal to or greater than $50 less than $500, and possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1 less than 1 gram in a drug free zone.
*Early Police arrested 31-year-old Charles Deway Spivey of Comanche for driving while intoxicated 3rd or more, driving while license invalid with previous conviction/suspended without financial responsibility.
Sunday, October 27
*8:36 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of E. Baker Street regarding the theft of a motor vehicle. According to the report, the calling party stated that her father’s pickup had been stolen sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. this date.
*11:53 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 4400 block of Edgewood regarding criminal mischief. According to the report, an unknown subject had broken a window of the residence.
*11:39 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Austin Avenue regarding a scam. According to police, the MoneyGram machine at Lilli Foods, located at 1201 Austin Avenue, was not working and a call came in from a man who claimed that he was with MoneyGram and calling in an attempt to get the machine working. The man gave the clerk instructions to attempt to send MoneyGrams, the report states. The clerk stated that the man called several times and that she complied each time, sending a total of 9 MoneyGrams and that the machine printed a receipt each time a MoneyGram was sent, according to the officer’s report. The owner called MoneyGram and confirmed that the company had not called his business. He was able to get two of the nine Money grams cancelled; however, there was a total loss of $5750.00, according to the report. A number of the caller’s phone was able to be found on caller ID and the officer googled it to find that the number was calling from of La Belle, Florida and that it was previously used in other scams, including where it was used in a scam in Texas where a MoneyGram business was scammed out of money. The owner also had a number that could be called to find out where the money was picked up. Typically the person picking up money must show identification and that most locations have surveillance video according to the owner of the store.
*12:45 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 1900 block of 4th Street regarding theft of property. According to the report, the complainant stated that a lawn mower, garden cultivator and a pressure washer had been stolen from the property sometime between October 24-27.
*4:58 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Wal-Mart regarding trespassing. According to the report, a male subject who had been previously trespassed from the property was inside the store in the electronics department. This call resulted in the arrest of 41-year-old Daryl Eugene Dumas of Early for criminal trespass.
*5:39 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2400 block of Greenway Drive regarding the burglary of a habitation. According to the report, the complainant stated that sometime between 7:00 p.m. on October 26th and 5:39 p.m. this day, an unknown suspect entered the residence and stole three fire arms and one laptop computer.
*6:43 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of Beaver Street regarding a disturbance. According to the report, a female subject stated that two male subjects kicked out a window in the apartment from the inside and then crawled out the window. She stated that they did not want to unlock the door from the inside to exit, the report states. The two males were contacted and stated that they kicked out the window because the female subject would not let them leave. After the investigation, a report for unlawful restraint was completed.
*6:59 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Wal-Mart regarding theft. According to the report, two juveniles had been observed stealing from Wal-Mart. Items stolen included Pokemon trading cards, games, a DVD, and other various items. After an investigation, the two juveniles were arrested for theft of property equal or greater than $50 less than $500, the report states. The juveniles were processed and released to their parents at the juvenile probation officer’s request, according to the officer’s report.
*7:56 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 800 block of Bailey Street regarding a runaway juvenile. According to the report, the complainant stated that her son had threatened to spray paint her vehicle; however, when she stated that she would call the police, he ran away from the residence. She did not think he would return this evening, the report stated.
*8:04 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 700 block of W. Commerce regarding a dispute in a parking lot. According to the report, the victim had gone into the convenience store to make a purchase inside when the suspect (the victim’s ex-boyfriend) arrived and began to enter the victim’s vehicle, trying to take a dog that was inside the vehicle. When the victim went outside to confront the suspect, he allegedly pulled a pistol from his waist band pointing it at the victim and told her not to come any further, the report states. The victim then took a set of keys from the vehicle and fled the scene, returned to the scene and slashed the back driver’s side tire of the victim’s vehicle, then fled again according to the report. A report was filed for aggravated assault family violence and criminal mischief.
*8:55 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Avenue J regarding the burglary of a habitation. According to the report, between 1:00 p.m. and 8:55 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the residence and stole one notebook computer, a Wii game console and remote, and one iPhone 4. Stolen property was valued at approximately $1400.
*11:08 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Gifford Street regarding a runaway juvenile. According to the report, the complainant stated that her daughter had gone to the movies and had not come home. The complainant stated that her daughter may be with her boyfriend, the report states.
*Early Police arrested 49-year-old Vincent Earl Griffin of Early for driving while intoxicated 3rd or more.
*Brownwood Police arrested 39-year-old Alejandra Demestric Hall for public intoxication.
Monday, October 28
*Early Police arrested 51-year-old Harold Lance Collins of Early on a warrant related to criminal trespass.
