LECSmBrown County deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit and a standoff early Wednesday morning that ended peacefully after the driver of the vehicle surrendered.

Brenda Kay Butler, 45 of Blanket, was arrested after the incident for evading arrest or detention and unlawful carrying of a weapon, according to Brown County jail records.

Capt. Tony Aaron of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies received a call around midnight that the suspect left a residence between Brownwood and Bangs in a red pickup and was upset and depressed and had a gun in her possession.  Deputies located the vehicle between Brownwood and Bangs and attempted to make a traffic stop to check on the woman’s welfare, but the driver ignored those attempts, according to Aaron.

The suspect vehicle traveled north on FM 1849 and onto Highway 279 headed north while deputies were in pursuit.  Deputies used road spikes to disable to the vehicle where it finally came to a stop on Highway 279 north of Park Road 15, according to Aaron.

Aaron said that Butler refused to exit the vehicle after the stop.  Deputy Nathan Land made contact with the suspect via cell phone and was able have the woman throw the gun out of the window and surrender peacefully, Aaron said.

The Brown County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Bangs Police were involved in the standoff.

Friday, October 19

*8:50pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1600 block of Belle Plain regarding the burglary of a vehicle.  A possible suspect has been identified, the report states.

Monday, October 22

*5:15am-Brownwood Police responded to a one vehicle accident at Austin and Roselawn.  According to the report, the driver of the vehicle identified as 29-year-old Fernando Alvizo was found to be operating the vehicle while intoxicated.  He was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

*6:22am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Vine Street regarding the burglary of a habitation.   According to the report, the complainant stated that someone entered his residence on Friday without his permission.  At the time, the complainant did not find anything missing; however later when his wife was getting ready for work, she realized a family heirloom ring was stolen from her jewelry box.   Two possible suspects were identified and the description of the ring was provided to law enforcement, the report states.

*10:04am-Brownwood Police responded to the report of a runaway juvenile in the 900 block of 16th Street.

*4:36pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Austin Avenue regarding theft.  According to the report, the CVS store manager reported to police that a juvenile male has been repeatedly coming into the store and stealing cough syrup.  The suspect left prior to the officer’s arrival; however the manager does wish to pursue charges and have a criminal trespass warning issued to the male for both Brownwood CVS stores.

*6:35pm-Brownwood Police met a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated that someone had “keyed” her vehicle while it was parked at Cross Country Health Care in the 1500 block of Indian Creek.

*9:19pm- Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1600 block of Melwood regarding an assault.  According to the report,

*10:43pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 100 block of Carnegie regarding fraud.  According to the report, a suspect cashed a check which was returned as fictitious.  The subject who cashed the check was interviewed and no criminal offenses were identified, the report states.  The reporting party did wish to pursue criminal charges for fraud.

*12:43pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 2900 block of Avenue C regarding a missing person.  According to the report, the officer made contact with the calling party and the juvenile was located a few minutes later in the care of his uncle.

*Bangs Police arrested Nathan Noel Perez of Brady for Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.

Tuesday, October 23

*9:23am-Brownwood Police met with a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding a missing person.  According to the report, the complainant’s 22-year-old son had been missing since the night before.

*10:37am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of 4th Street regarding the report of child neglect.  According to the report, a mother was allowing her three young children to run around the complex unattended.  The officer notified the woman of the complaint and notification was given to Child Protective Services.

*1:39pm-Brownwood Police met a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center for a follow up on an incident which happened last Saturday, October 20th.  According to the report, the complainant advised that his girlfriend assaulted him this past Saturday evening.

*4:10pm-Brownwood Police met a complainant at the Law Enforcement Center regarding criminal mischief.  According to the report, the complainant stated some unknown subject “keyed” her vehicle Saturday night (Oct. 20th) between the hours of 7:00-11:00pm.

*4:20pm-Brownwood Police responded to a motorcycle accident at the corner of Magnolia and 14th Street.  The motorcycle was reported stolen out of Yellowstone County in Montana.  The 34-year-old rider of the motorcycle said that he recently purchased the motorcycle through an ad on Craigslist.  According to police, the rider said that he went to Eastland several days ago and paid $1000 for the bike.  The seller told him that he would send the title to him in the mail at a later date, according to police.  Brownwood Police are turning the case over to the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office.

*5:52pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2400 block of 10th Street regarding the theft of a phone.

*Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 39-year-old James Daniel Wilhelm of Early for driving while intoxicated.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Nathan Land made a traffic stop which led to the arrest of three subjects.  According to Brown County Jail records, 18-year-old Moises Gutierrez, 18-year-old Jessica L. Hines of Comanche and 18-year-old Brandon Lee Lopez also of Comanche were each charged with possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces.
