Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Thursday, October 21, 2010.
Tuesday, October 19
* According to Early Police Chief David Mercer, EPD reserve officer Amanda Williams received a text message from an old acquaintance, Alton Stafford. Officer Williams hadn’t seen or spoke with Stafford for some time and he had no knowledge that she was an officer. According to Mercer, Stafford asked Officer Williams in the text message “so, do you smoke weed”. Officer Williams played along with the question and they discussed meeting and smoking some “weed” (marijuana) Mercer said. According to the report, Stafford stated he had some marijuana with him and he was on the way to Early from San Angelo and would meet her at the City Park. Officer Williams immediately notified Sgt. Dibrell when the conversation began and officers devised a plan for his arrival.
When Stafford arrived at the Early City Park, Early PD officers, with assistance from DPS troopers, approached and detained Stafford. According to the report, Stafford admitted to bringing marijuana and voluntarily surrendered it. After searching the vehicle, no other marijuana was found. Stafford stated he only brought what he had surrendered from his jacket pocket the report states. Stafford was transported to the Brown County Jail for Possession of Marijuana.
Wednesday, October 20
*3:20am-A Brownwood Police officer witnessed a pick up driving recklessly in the 400 block of East Commerce. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle which led them on a small chase. Upon stopping the vehicle, police arrested 23-year-old Carlos Martinez on several charges including Reckless Driving, Driving While License Invalid, and Fleeing Police.
*7:48am-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Bluffview. The apartment manager wished a Criminal Trespass Warning to a previous tenant. The tenant was contacted and issued the CTW.
*4:15pm-Brownwood Police were called to the intersection of Mulberry and Waco Streets regarding a male stumbling down the road. Officers located the man, identified as 41-year-old Chad Beasley, and arrested him for Public Intoxication with 3 Previous Convictions.
*Brownwood Police were called to the 3600 block of 3rd Street regarding an unwanted person that was trying to enter the back door of a residence. When police arrived, there was a car parked in front of the house with its lights off. As the patrol car arrived, the driver of the car turned the lights on and drove away. Police stopped the vehicle and found that a female driver was in the car. When asked for her identification, she noted she had none, but she did identify herself with name and date of birth. Dispatch was able to identify her and noted that she held an Arizona Driver’s license and that she had two outstanding warrants for her arrest in AZ. Dispatch also alerted the officer that other suspects were still trying to get in the back door of the residence. The officer told the woman not to leave and ran back to the house to check on the resident. Officers found two suspects at the back of the house, one of which was actively kicking the door and the other was standing behind him according to the police report. The officers ordered the men to the ground and handcuffed them.
Upon further investigation, it was determined that the homeowner and two men outside the home were related and all had an altercation earlier in the evening. Police arrested 31-year-old Nickolus Paul Scott of Superior, Wisconsin in the case for Assault Family Violence. The report also states that the woman initially stopped in the vehicle had fled on foot.
*23:36pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of E. Commerce regarding a report of a male and female fighting inside Whataburger and then fleeing the scene toward Bruner Auto Group located across the street. The suspects were identified as 21-year-old Minnie Thompson and 32-year-old Jason West Gandy. Both suspects were located behind vehicles at Bruner Auto Group police reports state. Both Thompson and Gandy were arrested and charged with Assault Casing Bodily Injury Family Violence and Public Intoxication.

* Early Police Chief, David Mercer reported that Officer Pattimae Furry stopped a 1985 Toyota motor home in the 100 block of Parkway for a traffic violation of not having any taillights. The driver, identified as 52-year-old Barbara Hyman, had a suspended driver’s license and no valid insurance on the vehicle. Furry obtained consent to look in the vehicle at which time Officer Furry located a baggie of marijuana next to the Driver’s seat the report states. Hyman was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana, Driving While License Suspended, Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility and Defective Equipment.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
