Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Monday, October 18, 2010.
Friday, October 15
*11:09am-Brownwood Police responded to a report of a possible theft of a wallet in the 1500 block of Market Place.
*11:54am-Brownwood Police received a call from Adult Protective Services requesting that a case be opened for elderly abuse. The officer spoke with a case worker who stated that they had been investigating an injury to a Brownwood resident. The investigation is ongoing.
*12:40pm-A Brownwood Police officer spoke with a complainant in the 800 block of N. Fisk in regard to a Burglary of a Building, a retail store named Attitude. Several custom guitars were reportedly stolen. No suspect information was available at the time of the report. The investigation is ongoing.
*2:41pm-Brownwood Police were called to 1616 Borden regarding a bicycle that was found. The bicycle was checked at BPD and was not listed as stolen and then was placed into impound at BPD.
*6:45pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 400 block of W. Commerce regarding shoplifting. The officer spoke with the loss prevention officer of the business who had a subject detained for stealing multiple items. The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Laken Marie Perry was arrested for Class B Theft , more than $50 and less than $500, and the property was returned to the store.
*8:52pm-Brownwood Police received a woman’s wallet that was turned in by a woman who had found it on Cordell Street. The owner was contacted; however being out of town, she could not claim it. It was placed into BPD evidence for safekeeping.
*9:20pm-A Brownwood Police officer patrolling the 2100 block of Brady Avenue noted a vehicle commit a traffic violation at the corner of 9th Street and Brady Avenue. Police reports state that a traffic stop was made and the driver, identified as 37-year-old James Kirby Peek, who was driving on a suspended driver’s license with two prior convictions. Peek was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.
*Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Austin Avenue regarding a stolen bottle of wine.
Saturday, October 16
*Just after midnight, Early Police Officer Pattimae Furry responded to an accident in the 900 block of Early Blvd where a vehicle struck the back of a trailer that was turning off the highway. Police reports state that the driver of the vehicle that struck the trailer, David Paul Sydow of Comanche, was provided a field sobriety test after showing signs of intoxication. Police said that Sydow failed the field sobriety test and was placed under arrest for Felony DWI open container and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sydow had more than 2 prior convictions of DWI and Officers found a marijuana pipe in the console of the vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle complained of minor injuries and was treated by Guardian EMS but not transported.
*12:30pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 1000 block of W. Commerce regarding a stolen cell phone. There was little suspect information at the time of the report. The incident is under investigation.
*1:40pm-A Brownwood Police officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding. The driver was identified as 27-year-old Ashley Michelle Jackson of Early. Further investigation led to Jackson’s arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
*3:49pm-Brownwood Police Department received a report from a woman that she was being harassed and stalked by an acquaintance at work. The investigation is ongoing.
*Brown County Sheriff’s Office arrested 18-year-old Charles Thomas Mason of Early for Delivery of Marijuana and Tampering with Evidence.
*29-year-old Candyce Brooke Sanchez was arrested for DWI by Texas DPS Trooper.
*Texas DPS arrested 19-year-old Miguel Angel Sanchez for Possession of Controlled Substance and Theft of Property.
Sunday, October 17
*10:42am – Brownwood Police responded to a report of a hit-and-run in the 2300 block of Magnolia.
*1:10pm – Brownwood Police were called to the 1200 block of Duke Street regarding a stolen wallet. The victim reported that a wallet was stolen out of a travel trailer.
*1:17pm- A Brownwood Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to signal 100 ft. prior to turning. The driver was identified as 29-year-old Michelle Nadine Manuel and further investigation led to Manuel’s arrest for Driving While Intoxicated according to police reports.
*3:17pm – Police conducted a civil standby in the 3700 block of Savoy.
*7:01pm- Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2800 block of Southside Dr. in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim was at the scene; however the suspect had left the scene. After locating the suspect, identified as 32-year old Kelly Stewart, several charges were filed against him. The charges include Assault Family Violence w/previous conviction; Possession of Marijuana, less than 2 oz; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Reckless Damage; Evading Arrest; and Resisting Arrest.
*7:36pm – Brownwood Police were called to the 2600 block of Austin Avenue regarding a report of a domestic disturbance. After investigating the incident, Police arrested 29-year-old Bridget Ann Espitia for Aggravated Assault Family Violence with a Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by Felon, and Terroristic Threat Against a Public Servant. 23-year-old Harrison Daniel Gregory was also arrested for Assault Causing Bodily Injury Family Violence.
*Brownwood Police responded to the report of a stolen wallet at Kroger. The victim told police that an unknown suspect had taken her wallet our of her grocery basket. The investigation is pending.
*Brownwood Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1000 block of W. Commerce. Police reports state that a search of the vehicle after the driver was questioned and admitted having marijuana in the vehicle yielded a baggie of marijuana, a digital scale, and a box of clear plastic baggies. The driver, identified as Miguel Flores, Jr. was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana, less than 2 oz, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
*Brownwood Police were called to the 1300 block of Brady Avenue regarding an assault. Investigation found that a simple assault had occurred, so a complaint would be filed with the municipal court.
*Brownwood Police responded to the 1500 block of Terrace regarding a theft of a bicycle.
*Officer Steven Means of the Early Police Department responded to a business in the 200 block of Early Blvd regarding a disturbance between a male and female. The caller reported the male was hurting the female by pinching her side and hurting her hand. Police reports state that the male, Jerry Michael Poling, left the scene after hearing a witness nearby say she was calling the Police. While Officer Means was interviewing the victim, the suspect called the business and wanted to speak with the victim. Officer Means spoke with him by phone and requested him to meet at the Early City Hall. Brown County Sheriff’s Office Deputies also responded as backup and located Poling as he arrived at the City Hall. Police said that Poling was interviewed and then placed under arrest for Assault family Violence. The victim had also been in to the Early Police Department on Friday 10/15/2010 and reported another assault that had already occurred.
*Early Police Department is also investigating some criminal mischief that occurred in the 1000 block of Early Blvd where the tires of a vehicle were slashed at an apartment complex. Officers are following up on the case with a suspect that was listed in the report.
*Texas DPS Troopers arrested 24-year-old Gavin Smith from Kyle Texas for Possession of Marijuana.
Monday, October 18
*1:26am- Brownwood Police stopped a motorcycle for speeding near the intersection of Coggin and Shaw. Police reports state that when the officer exited the patrol car, the driver of the motorcycle fled on foot. Police said that another officer later spotted the suspect, but he fled again and officers were unable to locate him. Dispatch advised that the owner of the motorcycle was out of Abilene.
All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
