Tuesday, October 7
*7:26 AM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding a domestic disturbance. The female complainant stated that after a verbal argument, her common law husband had tried to take her children.
*11:49 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 300 block of Center Avenue regarding theft. According to the report, the vending machines in the lobby of the building had been stolen.
*12:49 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2600 block of Vine Street regarding a hit and run accident. According to the report, police determined that the vehicle had not been hit while it was parked along the roadway but that it was a case of criminal mischief instead.
Friday, October 10
*2:27 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to Walmart regarding theft. According to the report, an 81-year-old David Mullins was caught shoplifting a “Bonanza” DVD and was issued a criminal trespass warning and a citation before being released from the scene.
*3:54 PM – Brownwood Police were called to the 500 block of W. Commerce regarding fraud. According to the report, a check was stolen from a residence in the area and forged. A suspect has been identified and an investigation is ongoing, the report states.*4:55 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of Terrace Drive regarding theft. According to the report, a tablet had been stolen from the residence.
*10:16 PM – Brownwood Police were attempting a warrant service in the 1600 block of 2nd Street on Bruce Hoffman when they discovered another offense. According to the report, Hoffman was located inside the residence and arrested for an outstanding parole violation warrant. A male subject inside the residence with Hoffman, identified as David Jakobeit, was asked about a vehicle parked at the back of the residence and responded that he did not know who it belonged to but was able to inform the officer that the keys were inside the house on the bed, the report states. The officer and Jakobeit went out to the vehicle and when the plates were checked, dispatch confirmed that the black 4-door Honda was entered as stolen out of Austin, Texas, the report states. Jakobeit was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and taken to the Brown County Jail where he was being held in lieu of $10,000 bond as of Monday morning.
Saturday, October 11
*6:42 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Commerce Street regarding criminal mischief. According to the report someone had scratched the complainant’s vehicle. An investigation is ongoing, the report states.
Sunday, October 12
*1:01 AM – Brownwood Police made a traffic stop in the 2300 block of Waco Street after a white Chevy pickup was observed traveling at a high rate of speed. According to the report, the vehicle was going 53 mph in a 40 mph zone. When the vehicle came to a stop, the driver was identified as Christopher Lopez and failed several field sobriety tests and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, the report states.
*1:22 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the1300 block of 13th Street regarding an assault involving a knife. According to the report, a male and his girlfriend went to a bar with another couple, which ended with the man being severely cut. The couple that accompanied the victim to the bar dropped them off at the victim’s apartment and when the victim went into his apartment, a friend noticed he had been cut severely, nearly to the bone on his arm, the report states. The victim didn’t notice the cut at first and stated that it must have occurred when he went to shake the hand of the other male, who then accused him of “looking at his girlfriend,” according to police. The victim only knew the male suspect’s first name and that he was from San Angelo, according to the report. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Brownwood Regional Medic al Center emergency room, the report states.
*9:28 AM – Brownwood Police were called to the 2800 block of Southside Drive regarding possible abuse and injury to a child.
*12:41 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 3400 block of US Hwy 377 South regarding theft by drive off. According to the report, a description of a female subject was obtained from an employee of the store.
*1:24 PM – Brownwood Police were called to Walmart regarding theft. According to the report a mother and a juvenile were caught shoplifting. According to the report, the woman, identified as Antoinette “Annette Merchant” Bradley and the juvenile were arrested for the incident. Bradley was arrested for theft greater than $50 and less than $500 and received an additional charge of failure to identify, according to police. The juvenile male was processed and later released to the custody of his father.
*1:43 PM – Brownwood Police responded to the 3200 block of Brookdale Street regarding theft. According to the report, the complainant reported a cell phone and wrist watch had been stolen from his house.
*2:57 PM – Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 500 block of E. Commerce regarding a domestic disturbance.
*7:50 PM – Brownwood Police met a complainant at the law enforcement center regarding theft. According to the report, a wallet was stolen from the Hampton Inn.
