LECSmEarly Police Department released the following information regarding a recent narcotics arrest of a male and female, both from Brownwood, as a result of a recent investigation.

A joint investigation between the Early Police Department, Brownwood Police Department and the Brown County Sheriff’s Office led to arrest of two individuals Tuesday afternoon for various drug charges. Officers received information Tuesday afternoon regarding several individuals who were staying in two rooms at a local motel on C.C. Woodson Road.  The occupants of the rooms were reported to have guns, money and drugs in the room.

The information the officers received was not enough for a search warrant, so investigators began conducting surveillance and doing some follow up investigations. EPD K9 officer Jambo was later walked in front of the motel rooms for an open air search and alerted to one of the rooms in question.  Officers then made contact with two individuals, a male and female in the room to conduct a consensual interview. Consent was obtained to search the room, which included officers searching for the reported guns, drugs and money. Officers located two handguns that looked like real guns but were BB guns. Officers also located where the toilet paper roller had been removed and numerous baggies used for packaging, jewelers bags, and syringes had been put into the wall of the bathroom. The Early Fire Department was requested with some tools to cut into the wall to remove the items from the wall area. There was also evidence suggesting the suspect had possibly washed some type of controlled substance down the shower drain. Officers also located a meth pipe containing residue and under 2 ounces of marijuana. Officers then located jeweler bags containing an assortment of clonazepam, alprazolam and diazepam pills packaged for sale. Legers of drug writing were also located as well as scales.

Early Chief of Police David Mercer reported that both of the occupants in the room, identified as 44-year-old Manuel Fuentes and 26-year-old Destinee Angela Hood, both of Brownwood, were arrested and charged with tampering and fabricating physical evidence – a 3rd degree felony; manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 3 (Clonazepam) State Jail Felony, manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 3 (Alprazolam) State Jail Felony; manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 3 (Diazepam) State Jail felony; possession of marijuana class B.

“This is just another example of the cooperative efforts between the BPD, BCSO and the EPD that are taking shape,” said Mercer. “This was an investigation that started out with little or no probable cause and with the 3 agencies working together developed enough to build the case.”
