Law Enforcement arrests and reports released Thursday, September 30 and October 1, 2010.

Thursday, September 23

*Brown County Sheriff’s Department received a report of theft from a local nursing home.  According to the report the complainant had come to the nursing home to bring clean clothes for her mother.  When she entered the room, she placed her purse on her mother’s wheelchair with the clothes on top of it and then returned to her car to get the rest of her mother’s clothing the report states.  When she returned, her mother was sitting in the wheelchair.  They visited for about 45 minutes and when the complainant got ready to leave she could not find the purse or the clothes that she initially brought into the room according to the report.  The investigation is ongoing.

Wednesday, September 29

*8:55am-A Brownwood Police officer was dispatched to a hit and run accident that occurred in the 1500 block of Main Street/US Hwy 377.  According to the report the victim stated that an older model maroon passenger car struck her vehicle after the driver ran a stop sign.  The complainant stated that the suspect vehicle drove away after the accident the report states.  An investigation is ongoing to identify the driver of the maroon passenger car.

*11:54am-Brownwood Police were called to the 2000 block of Slayden regarding a domestic disturbance.  Upon arrival, officers learned that the complainant had been assaulted by his girlfriend 22-year-old Meghann Sharp the report states.  After completing the investigation, Sharp was arrested for Assault Family Violence.  The victim, identified as 23-year-old Mykal Manzano was also arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Grade 1, less than 1g in a Drug Free Zone; Possession of Marijuana, less than or equal to 2 oz in Drug Free Zone;  and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and also included Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

*2:34pm-A Brownwood Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 500 block of W. Commerce.  According to the report, as the vehicle was stopped the officer noted the passenger moving around and acting suspicious.

According to the report, the driver (18-year-old Bryan Dee Penn) was asked why the passenger, identified as 19-year-old Aaron Shane White, was moving around so much in the car as they were stopped.  He answered that White did not want the police to find his phone the report states.  A consensual search of the car was performed and Penn was patted down for officer safety.  During these searches, a black knife was found in Penn’s pocket and another knife that qualified as a switchblade was found on the driver’s side of the car.   Penn was arrested charged with Prohibited Weapon, Switchblade.

According to police White was asked why he was moving around and he stated that he wanted to give his phone to Penn due to active warrants for his arrest.  Dispatch confirmed the warrants and White was arrested for the two outstanding warrants.

Upon booking the two men into the jail, a jailer informed the officer that the first knife found was also able to be opened with centrifugal force, making it a switchblade as well and adding a second charge of Prohibited Weapon, Switchblade.

*9:53pm-Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Avenue C in regard to an assault.  According to the report, the complainant stated that he was assaulted and named a suspect.  He does wish to press charges against the suspect the report states.

Thursday, September 30

*8:13am-Brownwood Police responded to the 1700 block of Magnolia in reference to a report of harassment.  According to the report, the suspect was contacted and informed to cease communication with the victim.

*9:15pm-Brownwood Police were called to the 800 block of Melwood to assist a motorist and possible intoxicated driver.  As a result of this call, 40-year-old Sandra Lankford was arrested for Public Intoxication.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Department received a report of an oil leak located on CR 424.  According to the report, the deputy was able to shut off two wells in order to stop the spill.  The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and Texas Railroad Commission were contacted as was the owner of the oil equipment.  Upon the owner’s arrival, he stated that he would get the spill cleaned up and also shut down the rest of the pumps due to there being more on the property the report states.

*Brown County Sheriff’s Department received a report of possible animal cruelty.  According to the report, two dogs had gotten tangled up in a bundle of fish hooks attached to a trotline.  One dog was hooked in the paw and another was hooked in the cheek and ear the report states.

Friday, October 1

*2:50am-Brownwood police were called to the 2400 block of Austin Avenue to a motion alarm being activated.  While securing the residence, several drug related items were seized from the residence the report states.

All arrestees are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
