LavenuiaHerridgeOn Saturday, April 3, 2010, Lavenuia Lee Hallmark Herridge passed peacefully from this world.  Lavenuia was a Christian, strong and unwavering in her faith.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.  Lavenuia, or “Winna”, as she was known to her family, was generous and had a tender heart.  She was loving and fiercely loyal to her friends and family members, and she will be sorely missed by all of us.

Lavenuia was born in Burnet County Texas on April 13, 1930 to Cleo Patra Walters Hallmark and Oscar Merritt “Boots” Hallmark.  Lavenuia was the first of three daughters and was preceded in death by her husband, Tolbert Earl Herridge, as well as her father and mother, and her sister, Hettie I.V. Hallmark Grant.

Lavenuia Lee Hallmark was married to Tolbert Earl Herridge on May 19, 1946, and their union produced two children, a son, Waymon Earl Herridge (wife, Charlotte Holder Herridge) and a daughter, Sharla Kay Herridge Stanley (husband, Billy Dean Stanley).  Lavenuia was the proud grandmother of Brandon Wayne Herridge (wife, Vickie Sarver Herridge), Jonathan Oscar Herridge (wife, Patricia Blacklock Herridge), Kayla Lynn Stanley Bogl (husband, Craig Bogl), and Bryan Heath Stanley.  At the time of Lavenuia’s death, she had five great-grandchildren, Reagan Alan Herridge and Cooper Ryan Herridge, Hunter James Herridge and Caleb Timothy Herridge, and Landon Jacob Bogl.

Lavenuia was a telephone operator for many years and especially enjoyed interacting with her customers.  She often stated that she loved going to work.  In the mid-1980’s, Lavenuia retired from AT&T, and at that time, worked at the office in Arlington, Texas.  She and her husband, Earl, moved from Burleson, Texas, to Comanche, where they lived until they moved to Brownwood, Texas in 2004.  In 2007, they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, to live with their son and his wife.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, April 9, 2010, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home between the hours of six and eight.  The funeral service will be held Saturday morning, April 10, 2010, at ten o’clock in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with Buck Griffith, a minister at Kings Crossing Church of Christ in Corpus Christi officiating.  Graveside services will be held at three o’clock Saturday afternoon at Bluffton Cemetery in Bluffton, Texas, Llano County, Texas.

Condolences, memories, and tributes can be left for the family at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
