Laura Louise (Beene) Odom, 46, passed away due to a sudden illness on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Abilene Regional Hospital.

She was born in Big Spring on May 13, 1965, and was married to Jack Odom on Aug. 8, 1987.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Odom; and daughter, Jessica Layne Odom, of Early, Texas; her parents, Wayne and Martha Beene of Big Spring, Texas; and her sister, Dr. Ronda L. Beene of Fort Worth, Texas. She is also survived by Jack’s parents, Paschal and Lucy Odom of Big Spring; and sister-in-law and husband, Jill and Mark Spannaus of Midland, Texas; two nieces and many more loving relatives.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, L.E. and Laura Beene, Jack and Irene Butler; and cousin Kim Bowie.

She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1983, Odessa College 1996, and was very close to completing her teaching degree from Stephen F. Austin University. She was a very loving wife, mother, daughter and sister and will be greatly missed. She loved attending anything her daughter was participating in and family events. She loved working with children and worked as a teacher’s aide with Brownwood ISD and kept the nursery at First United Methodist Church in Brownwood.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Brownwood, with Dr. Don Scroggs officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood.
