Brownwood News – The Pearl Griffin Memorial Latch Key Program will be having their Annual Hamburger Supper on Tuesday, April 16th from 5-7 PM at the First Christian Church Fellowship Hall (2411 Coggin).  This is one of the programs main fundraising events.  Our hamburger supper is the only even that involves everyone with the program volunteering, including children, parents, staff and board members.  The Pecan Valley Kiwanis volunteer their time also to cook the burgers and hotdogs for us. Everything for the Hamburger Supper is 100% donated so all money raised stays in the program.  Tickets for the hamburger supper are $5 for children and $7 for adults which includes either a hotdog or hamburger with chips and a drink.  We will have an extra hotdog or hamburger for an additional $3.  There will be a bake sale for something sweet after dinner.

As in past years we will also be having an amazing raffle!  Again for our raffle we have gotten everything donated so all ticket sales stay within the program.  Our 1st prize is 2 tickets to Texas Ranger’s game (sponsored by Texas Rangers) with hotel (sponsored by Car Coral), meal (sponsored by Longhorn Auto Sales) and a $75 Easter basket (sponsored by Accel Health). The 2nd prize is dinner for 2 at Section Hand (sponsored by Section Hand) and 2 tickets to Lyric Theater (sponsored by Lyric Theater).  The 3rd prize is 2 large Pizza Hut pizzas (sponsored by Pizza Hut) with Redbox rentals and popcorn. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5 each.

Tickets for hamburger supper and raffle tickets are available from any board members or the Latch Key director, Jessica Hardy at the Latch Key office. If you need any tickets for either one please let us know and we will meet up with you.  You can call the office at 325-646-2138.

Latch Key is an afterschool program for families in Brownwood ISD with children 4 years old in pre-k through 6th grade whose parents work or go to school during after school hours and qualify for free or reduced meals. Brownwood ISD buses them to us and we serve snack each afternoon, help with homework and have activities planned for them in their classrooms.  Our program is separated by grade so that one teacher is responsible for their specific class.  We have Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts available to our families at no charge.  Throughout the year we bring in the firemen with the fire truck, handwashing classes with the Health Department, ambulance with CareFlight as well as other visitors when available.

Latch Key is a United Way organization.
