Special Release – The Pearl Griffin Memorial Latch Key Program will be hosting their annual hamburger supper on Tuesday, April 11th, from 5-7 p.m. This is the program’s largest involved fundraiser. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children.
Ticket holders will receive a hamburger or hotdog with chips and a drink. The event will also have $3 tickets available if attendees would like seconds on hamburgers or hotdogs. To-go boxes are available for those in a hurry. There will also be a bake sale during the fundraiser with homemade treats.
In conjunction with the hamburger supper, there will be a raffle drawing at 7 p.m. Raffle tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. First prize will be (4) corner box tickets to a Texas Rangers’ game with hotel and meal accommodations. (Sponsored by Texas Rangers, Car Corral, Texas Clean). Second prize will be dinner for 2 at Section Hand plus 6 games of bowling with 2 shoe rentals. (Sponsored by Section Hand, Academy Lanes). Third prize will be 2 large pizzas, 5 Redbox rentals and popcorn. (Sponsored by Pizza Hut, Kroger).
Tickets are available at the Latch Key office at 2411 Coggin Avenue in Brownwood, or with any board member. Raffle tickets are available from board members as well as at Texas Bank and Citizen’s Bank. Any business or organization wishing to purchase multiple tickets for either the hamburger supper or the raffle drawing can call 325-646-2138.
“Everyone involved in the program will be assisting with making it a success,” said event organizers. “The staff and children have been working on decorations since February, our board members have been working hard to get sponsors making this fundraiser 100% proceeds back to the program as well as volunteering their time at the event to help serve.”
The Latch Key program is available to working families in the Brownwood ISD that have children 4 years old in Pre-k through 6th grade that qualify for free or reduced lunches in the school system. There is no charge for the families to enroll. The Latch Key program provides a snack for the children and help with homework. The staff also offers activities for the children once homework has been completed. All staff comes from Howard Payne University through
the workstudy program and must pass fingerprint background checks to help ensure the safety of the children.
