East Elementary is a historic school in Brownwood Texas. It has 337 children and houses pre-K through third grades. It is a title one school with over 70% of the population living at the poverty level. However, the heart of the campus is one of generosity with a beautiful spirit of community. The love the teachers have for the students is felt the moment you step foot inside the door. Each morning the principal greets every child by name, and with a handshake.
Unfortunately, the playground is a disaster. The current playground consists of exposed wires, decomposed swing sets, disheveled picnic tables, and an unsafe metal structure. Although many of our days it is 100+ degrees, there is little shade. We have volunteers willing to work on the playground but are in desperate need of funding.
Last year our children at East earned over two thousand dollars. Instead of buying something that would benefit them, they voted to donate it to a little boy with cancer to go toward his treatment. Though the majority of our students come from poverty, their generous spirit is amazing. Please help us provide a safe outdoor environment for these deserving kids.
According to the rules, the sponsor will select the winning entry based upon votes submitted by website visitors. The contest ends soon, so cast your vote now to support East Elementary in their quest for the $20,000 prize!
