The Brownwood Reunion Celebration is set for next week and organizers are getting set for one of the most popular events, Hands on a House.

The Hands-on-a-House competition is continuing to accept applications for contestants through this Friday.  Those who would like to complete are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible, as the drawing of contestants will be held this Friday, September 12th to determine the approximately 20 people to compete during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration next week.

The three day competition will be held September 19-21 and the last person with their hand in contact with the house is declared the winner and will take home the custom-built playhouse.

Entry forms are available online at CelebrateBrownwood.com and at sponsor businesses including Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates, TexasBank Mortgage, Landmark Life Insurance Company, Ingram Concrete LLC, and Kirby Cabler General Contractors.

The grand prize, the “Shotgun Shack” is now sitting in place at the competition site at the corner of Carnegie and Adams Streets across from the Brownwood Library.

Besides the grand prize of the house, additional prizes will be awarded to the top four or more finalists as well.  The community is also benefitting from the competition as all contestants will be participating in the annual food drive for local charities Good Samaritan Ministries and St. John’s Food Pantry.  Each year two trailers are filled with canned goods from the food drive which help the hungry in our community.  Organizers state “It’s a win-win event, anyway you look at it.”

Contestants often form great friendships each year during the grueling 48-hour endurance challenge.

Past contestants who are not competing are invited to come help judge or help with the food drive booth this year.  Simply visit Sandi at Coldwell Banker office or Emily at Texas Bank.

This year’s Brownwood Reunion Celebration will be held September 19, 20 and 21.  The community-wide festival features a variety of contests, events, attractions, music, and food in addition to the main concerts.
