Funeral services for Larry Thomas McBride, 70, of Plano, formerly of Brownwood, will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 7, at the Abundant Life Church in Brownwood with Chaplain Dave Fair officiating. Interment will follow at Cowboy Cemetery in McCulloch County, under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home and Cremations. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, January 6, at the funeral home.

Mr. McBride passed away on January 3, 2012, in Plano, Texas.

Larry Thomas McBride was born on August 30, 1941, in Brownwood, Texas to Ira Thomas McBride and Opal Bennett McBride. He grew up in Mercury, graduated from Brownwood High School in 1959 where he was a member of the ROTC team and played trombone in the band; and went on to attend Tarleton State University.     

He married Ann Jones on June 10, 1962 in Brownwood; and together, they raised their family in the Dallas and Plano area. He was a Boy Scout Master while living in Plano.  He had worked as a mechanic for most of his life, and was known to all as a man that could fix anything. He later worked as a Facility Engineer for ARCO.  His hobbies included woodworking, genealogy and photography.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Ann McBride of Plano; children, T. Ryan McBride of Sachse and Kimberly “Kim” Lynn Johnson of Corinth; his brother, Kenneth Don McBride of Brownwood; sister, Karen McBride Fair of Brownwood, and his mother, Opal Bennett McBride of Brownwood. His is also survived by his grandchildren, Chelsie Ann Johnson, Christopher Johnson, and Brady Lawrence McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ira Thomas McBride.
