City workers responded to the scene of a minor accident Wednesday afternoon around 12:40 PM involving a Freightliner truck which pulled down a utility line at the corner of 4th Street and Indian Creek.
According to an Oncor representative, the truck must have struck a low hanging branch of an oak tree in Alcorn Park, which caused a good portion of the tree to break and a pull down a low hanging abandoned Brownwood Television Cable line. The cable company is no longer in business and the Oncor representative stated that their workers usually cut these lines down and discard them as a courtesy service when possible.
No electrical lines were affected by the accident and therefore power was not interrupted to nearby businesses or Woodland Heights Elementary.
The truck’s trailer received damage to the front right corner where it is believed it hit the limb. No injuries were reported because of the accident. Traffic was interrupted in the southbound lane of 4th Street for a short time.
Brownwood Police, City of Brownwood Street Department crews and Oncor responded to the scene of the accident.
