Lake Brownwood State Park will celebrate its 81st anniversary as a State Park on Saturday, October 10th.

“We have been providing a place for families and friends to enjoy the outdoor and make memories at Lake Brownwood for years,” said Park Superintendent John Holland.

Holland explained that the day will be filled with several activities planned for families and kids of all ages including a kid fishing derby (ages 4 – 16),  5K Trail Run/Walk on Nopales Ridge Trail, basic archery instruction, horse shoe pitching, and washer pitching (for bragging rights).

The kids fishing derby will offer prizes for the biggest fish, weigh-in begins at 3:00 p.m.

There will also be presentations about the park’s history.

All activities are free with entrance to the park, with the exception of the 5K Run/Walk.  For registration information and form,
