Brownwood Softball team the Lady Sharks finished second at the Futures World Cup which was held at the Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City July 11th-14th.
The Futures Cup coincided with the World Cup of Softball that featured Team USA, Team Japan, Team Canada, Team Australia, and Team Puerto Rico. Like the World Cup the tournament was a single elimination format.
The Lady Sharks dropped one pool game to Oklahoma Ultimate 02, then went undefeated in bracket play to earn a berth to the championship game against Oklahoma Ultimate 02. The championship game was scheduled to be played Sunday July 14th; however, due to rain the game could not be played. The tournament directors awarded Oklahoma Ultimate the first place position and the Lady Sharks second place based on the previous matchup between the two teams.
