The Brownwood Lady Lions cross country team grabbed first place on Monday at the District 5-3A cross country meet in Snyder.
The Lady Lions topped Abilene Wylie, Big Spring and Snyder to secure the title. The team was led by Caitlyn Haynes who came in first place by about one second. Brownwood’s Katy Jacobs secured fourth place in the meet.
The Brownwood Lions took second place as a team in district getting edged out slightly by Big Spring. The Brownwood team was led by Cameron McLaughlin who placed fourth and Dylan Person who was fifth.
Brownwood boys and girls JV teams, seventh grade boys and girls and eighth grade girls took district cross country championships as well.
The Lions and Lady Lions will compete in the Region I-3A meet at Texas Tech on Saturday, Nov. 5.
