The Howard Payne University volleyball team won in straight sets over Sul Ross State University (25-19, 25-17, 25-11) on senior night Friday at the Brownwood Coliseum.
Seniors Amber Cantu-Curry, Megan Pick, and Cathie Kilmartin were honored for their time at HPU, along with Student Assistant Coach Kelsey Stockstill.
In the first set SRSU kept up with HPU only to fall behind late in the set. In the second and third set it was all HPU to win in straight sets.
Sophomore, Carlee Ammons had the big night for the Lady Jackets, with 9 kills and a .750 hitting percentage. Senior, Cantu-Curry had 23 assist and 6 digs. SRSU’s Brooke Bankston had 5 kills. Josette Delgado finished with 12 assists.
HPU moves to 10-16 overall this season and 4-13 in the American Southwest Conference. SRSU goes to 1-22 overall and 0-14 in the ASC.
The next game for the Lady Jackets is at 7 p.m. Oct 26, against Hardin-Simmons University, at the Brownwood Coliseum.
