Six Howard Payne University players and head coach were recognized on the 2013 American Southwest Conference Women’s Basketball All-Conference and All-Division selections, the ASC office announced on Wednesday, following a vote of the league’s head coaches.
Tresta Donahoo earned the title of ASC West Division Player of the Year after averaging 16.3 points, a league-high 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game. She also shot 75.7 percent from the free throw line and connected on 33 three-pointers. Donahoo led the Lady Jackets to a division championship. She was named the ASC West Division Player of the Week four times and to D3hoops.com Team of the Week twice this season. Donahoo who was selected to the West-Division first team, was also named to the prestigious five-player ASC All-Conference Team.
WEST DIVISION COACH OF THE YEAR
Head coach Joshua Prock was named the ASC West Division Coach of the Year. Coach Prock led the Lady Jackets to a 22-5 overall record and a 16-3 conference record. The Lady Jackets secured their 10th straight 20-win season and their third ASC West Division title this year.
WEST DIVISION FIRST TEAM
Dana Marrs was second on the team and sixth in the ASC in scoring with 13.6 points per game. She led the team in three-pointers made with 46 and shot 81.8% from the free-throw line this season (third in the ASC). She also finished fourth in the ASC in steals with 67. Dana scored 24 points versus Oglethorpe early in the season and made four three-pointers in a game twice this year.
HONORABLE MENTION WEST DIVISION/WEST DIVISION FRESHMAN TEAM
Danyel Bradley averaged 8.7 points per game off the bench for the Lady Jackets. She also grabbed 4.8 rebounds per game. Danyel scored a season high 20 versus Concordia Texas and grabbed a season high 10 rebounds in the same game.
HONORABLE MENTION WEST DIVISION/WEST DIVISION DEFENSIVE TEAM
Senae Dillard led the Lady Jackets in rebounding with 6.6 per game. Starting all 27 games for Howard Payne, She averaged 5.1 points per game. Senae scored 22 versus Concordia Texas and grabbed 16 rebounds versus Louisiana College.
HONORABLE MENTION WEST DIVISION
Britani Gattis led the team in free-throw pct at 82.4%. She averaged 7.7 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game. Gattis scored a season high 17 points versus UT-Tyler and grabbed 12 rebounds versus Mississippi College early in the season.
HONORABLE MENTION WEST DIVISION
Kayla Scott was second on the team in free-throw pct at 81% and averaged 6.7 points per game. Kayla Scott scored 23 points at East Texas Baptist hitting four three-points in the game.
