jacketbasketball_logoThe Howard Payne women’s basketball held the University of Texas at Dallas to just 26% shooting to secure a 76-62 conference win Saturday afternoon.

After holding a 35-28 halftime lead, the Lady Jackets would outscore UT-Dallas 41-34 in the second half to post the 76-62 victory.

Tresta Donahoo led HPU with16 points and nine assists. Dana Marrs followed with 14 points sparked by 3 of 3 shooting from behind the arc. Britani Gattis finished with nine points and four steals. McKamie Place added nine points and six rebounds off the bench.

Morgan Kilgore led UT-Dallas with a game high 20 points and Jo’Anna Davis followed with 15 points. Katie Korioth had 11 points and 16 rebounds.

HPU now stands at 11-2 overall and 6-1 in ASC action. UT-Dallas falls to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in conference. The Lady Jackets will play at home next Thursday versus Schreiner University at 5:30 pm.


The Howard Payne men’s basketball team could not recover from a big first half deficit and fell 74-43 to the University of Texas at Dallas Saturday afternoon.

UT-Dallas started the game with a 24-2 run that the Yellow Jackets could not recover from. UT-Dallas also shot 48% from the field while holding the Jackets to just 31%.

Christian Davis led HPU with 12 points and seven rebounds. Brandon Gould followed 11 points and four assists.UT-Dallas was led by Kyle Schleigh with a game high 25 points and nine rebounds. Nolan Harvey added 10 points and six assists.

HPU now stands at 4-9 overall and 2-5 in ASC action. UT-Dallas improves to 9-4 overall and 5-3 in conference. The Jackets will play at home next Thursday versus Schreiner University at 7:30 pm.
