TeamWAsstCoachDaniels2012Receiving seven first place votes, the Howard Payne women’s basketball team was pre-season picked to finish second in the American Southwest Conference West Division, after a vote of each division’s head coaches, sports information directors and media members, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Five-time ASC champion Howard Payne (20-6, 16-5 ASC) was predicted to finish in second place in the West with 129 points and seven first-place votes. The Lady Jackets have also won three division crowns and hoisted the NCAA Division III national championship trophy in 2007-08.

The Lady Jackets, who have posted nine consecutive 20 win seasons, will have an exhibition game with NCAA D-I Stephen F. Austin State University on November 2nd at 7:00 pm in Nacogdoches, Texas. Howard Payne will officially start the 2012-2013 season at the Mississippi College Tournament in Clinton, MS, November 16-17. They will open the tournament with Berry College at 5:30 pm and play Huntingdon College the next day at 1:00 pm.

Howard Payne will have their home opener on November 24th versus the University of Texas at Tyler at 1:00 pm.
