Howard Payne University Lady Jackets were within one goal of the second ranked Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls at the break but fell 4-0 in American Southwest Conference action at the HSU Soccer Complex on Friday afternoon.
HSU controlled the play for most of the match, but led just 1-0 at halftime thanks to a solid HPU defense.
In the second half, HSU found the net three times. HSU outshot HPU 28-4 in the game and 11-2 on goal. HSU also had 12 corner kicks to two for HPU.
Jordyn Stephens and Rebecca Lamar each recorded shots on goal for the Lady Jackets.
Adrienne Walker played in goal all 90 minutes for HPU recording seven saves. Rebecca Roth got the shutout in goals for HSU.
The HPU Lady Jackets fell to 5-4-3 overall and 4-3-2 in ASC action. HSU moved to 12-0 on the year and to 8-0 in ASC play.
