hpusoccerlogoThe Howard Payne women’s soccer team played nationally-ranked Hardin-Simmons University to a 0-0 tie in the half but fell in the end 2-0 in the semi-final round of the 2010 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament Saturday afternoon.

Howard Payne goalkeeper Adrienne Walker was up to the task for the Lady Jackets and she kept them in the game with a scoreless first half with 11 saves. She finished the game with 16 saves. The Lady Jackets only had two shots on goal to Hardin-Simmons’ 18.

Hardin-Simmons got their goals in the 46th and 50th minutes of the game. Megan Ryan scored the first unassisted and the next was scored by Amy Kuykendall on a Katie Kuykendall corner kick.

The Lady Jackets end their season with the program’s first playoff appearance, first tournament win and the most wins in school history.

Howard Payne finishes 11-5-3 overall and Hardin-Simmons stands at 18-0 moving on the finals on Sunday.
