volleyballlogoThe Howard Payne University volleyball team loses their first home game of 2010 in four sets to McMurry University.

HPU won the first of the four sets 25-22. They would go on to lose in three straight 21-25, 15-25, 16-25. 

Tamika Heline of Howard Payne led the way on offense for the Lady Jackets with 16 kills and on defense with 17 digs. Behind her was Cathie Kilmartin with 6 kills. Amber Cantu-Curry set the way with 32 assists on the night.

McM’s Terah Brown ended the night with 10 kills, 3 solo blocks and 9 assisted blocks. Jasmine Qualls had a great night with 32 assists and 14 digs.

HPU goes to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the American Southwest Conference. McMurry goes to 4-4 overall and 1-0 in the ASC play.

The next match for the Lady Jackets is at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, away in Abilene against Hardin-Simmons University.
