The Howard Payne University women’s basketball team fell to Coe College 61-50 on day one of the Concordia University Texas Holiday Classic.
Howard Payne only managed 27% shooting from the floor and was 0 for 15 from behind the arc in the game. The Lady Jackets held Coe College to 36% shooting from the field and forced 21 turnovers.
HPU shot just 14% from the field in the first half, but remained close with the Coe College Kohawks. Coe held a slight 21-18 lead at the break.
Coe started the second half with a run and built a 14-point lead with 13 minutes reminding. The cold shooting from the field continued for the Lady Jackets and they were unable to get back in the game falling 61-50.
Brittany Roberson led HPU with 11 points followed by April Neal with 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench. Katy Sarem added with 10.
Coe was led by Sarah Anciaux with a game high 17 points and 10 rebounds. She was followed by Kayla Waskow with 15.
Howard Payne now stands at 5-5 overall and Coe is at 8-2 on the year.
The Lady Jackets will play Goucher College on Thursday at 5:30 pm to finish out the Concordia Holiday Classic.
