It was an evening of fun, games, and great music as KTAB News broadcasted their Thursday’s 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm newscasts live from Brownwood at the Margaret and Stuart Coleman Plaza near the Depot.
There were free hot dogs and drinks, a jump house and inflatable obstacle course, live newscasts along with contests and prizes. Brownwood’s own local band, County Road Nowhere performed and then more prizes were given away to those playing KTAB’s versions of the Amazing Race and Wheel of Fortune.
The news broadcasts included interviews and clips with Brownwood officials along with highlights of the Brownwood High School drum line, Brownwood Reunion, The Turtle Restaurant, Lake Brownwood, the new Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center, and many more of Brownwood’s attractions.
Things heated up as they started a game called “Brownwood Survivor”. Six contestants participated in a strength challenge which eliminated all but three men who then ate fried, flavoured crickets. The two fastest at this challenge went on to race each other in the inflatable obstacle course. Wesley Bryant was the winner, who set the KTAB on the road record (for all cities in the On the Road Tour). Bryant won the prize package that included a $500 worth of groceries, $100 gift certificate to Heartland Mall, tickets to a Dallas Cowboy game and more.
The headliner for the evening was country rock performer Zack Harmon from Abilene who entertained the crowd and ended with his own version of Purple Rain.
KTAB ended the evening with the 10pm live news broadcast. Thanks to KTAB for an evening of enjoyment that they brought to Brownwood.
