KTAB News completed their annual “On The Road” tour in Early this week with a big crowd enjoying music, games, prizes, food, and ice cream on Friday. The KTAB crew not only broadcast their 5pm, 6pm, and 10pm newscasts live from Early City Park, they gave the community a great time, and fun family atmosphere. Free hot dogs, ice cream, and drinks were a crowd pleaser.
Those in attendance won prizes like t-shirts, gift certificates, gadgets, cash and more. KTAB versions of the Amazing Race, Wheel of Fortune, the Price is Right, and Survivor created some great excitement among the crowd. Brownwood resident Karen Karnes beat out four other contestants in the Survivor game by holding up water buckets, eating crickets, and racing through an obstacle course. Karnes celebrated (pictured below) as she won two tickets to a Dallas Cowboys football game and Texas Rangers baseball game.
The Early Chamber of Commerce recognized KTAB as their July business of the month as well (pictured above). The city of Early also presented a special longhorn sculpture to news anchors Lane Stone and Bob Bartlett.
Local vendors also supported the event by setting up booths in the area. AirEvac Lifeteam landed a helicopter in the area for an added attraction. Great music was a highlight of the event with the Buck Nelson Band and the Zach Harmon Band.
KTAB visited four other Big Country communities throughout the week including Snyder, Cisco, Breckenridge, and Buffalo Gap.
