Brownwood Lyric Theatre recently received a major donation from Kohler Company which included bathroom fixtures and other supplies needed in the restoration of the theatre in Downtown Brownwood.
Kohler Human Resource Manager Rachel Tobin explained the importance to Kohler of donating through their stewardship efforts to the project.
“Restoring the 1914 vintage theatre in the heart of historic downtown Brownwood is important to preserving this region’s history and heritage,” Tobin said. “The Brownwood community is proud of their history as our Kohler associates are proud of our company history.”
Tobin further explained that the donation of the plumbing fixtures, valued at $7,000 along with a $5,000 donation from the Brownwood Kohler plant’s corporate giving budget will be matched, making it even more significant.
Supporting the Lyric, she explained encompasses all of the ideas of Kohler’s Stewardship program.
“The theatre is a large part of our community efforts through fellowship, entertainment and education of the arts. The theatre is a part of our workplace efforts because it touches the lives of our associates, their children and families,” explained Tobin. “The theatre supports our environment efforts through sustainable construction such as energy efficient lighting and low flow plumbing fixtures. The theatre supports our arts efforts by providing performing arts for the betterment and enjoyment of our community and introducing our younger generations to a disappearing art form.”
Construction is progressing and moving toward finishing plumbing installation in June. The Lyric’s matching campaign continues through May 31, 2014 so those interested in making a donation are encouraged to do so now. Donations may be made on the Lyric website at www.BrownwoodLyricTheatre.com, by using the “click and pledge” button to make a secure contribution.
Information about the project can be found on the website at www.BrownwoodLyricTheatre.com and on their Facebook page. Those interested can also contact Eric Evans, Lyric Managing Director at 325-998-2801 for information.
Morrison Supply Company also made a donation of 4 auto flushers for commodes to help complete the needed plumbing items for the renovation.
