Funeral services for Kirby Humphries, age 86, of Brownwood, will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, March 3, 2016 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Slaymaker officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00.
Kirby passed from this life on Sunday, February 28, 2016 in Brownwood.
Kirby W. Humphries was born on November 18, 1929 at home in Bosque County to Bunyan W. and Myrtle (Kilgore) Humphries. He married Betty Pat Sherwood on May 24, 1946. They were blessed with two sons.
Kirby was employed by Santa Fe Railway in 1948 and retired in December 1987. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, water skiing and golf.Kirby is survived his wife of 69 years, Betty Pat; two sons, Pat Alan Humphries and wife Linda and Michael Kirby Humphries and wife Betty Martin Humphries, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother Don Humphries of Clifton and many much loved nieces and nephews.
Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
