A Memorial Service for Kenny  Gilmore, age 61, of Bangs, Texas will be held 2:00 PM Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Heartland Funeral Home with Pastor Curtis Schneider officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.  Mr. Gilmore passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 in the San Angelo Community Hospital in San Angelo.

Kenneth was born on January 24, 1956 in Baytown, Texas to Carl Wayne and Laura Jane Gilmore. He graduated from Elgin High School, Elgin, Texas on May 30, 1974 where he was voted Class Clown. He became a father to Lindsay on August 25, 1985 and then to Kyle on March 22, 1993. On August 15, 2005 his first grandson, Austin, was born with four more to follow. Kenneth became a Mason on October 7, 1995. On November 10, 2006, he married Dina LaFollette on the front porch of her parents home in San Antonio, Texas. Kenneth retired from Oncor on February 14,2014.

Kenneth loved being a class clown, mason and spending time hunting, fishing and camping. He was happiest with his friends and family around while cooking on the grill and then playing horseshoes, washers or 42. Kenny loved telling everyone about the fishing trips, baseball games and rodeos that he took his kids to. He had an infectious sense of humor and smile. He will be missed.

Survivors include his wife Dina Gilmore of Bangs, Texas; his father Carl Wayne Gilmore of Elgin, Texas; daughter Lindsay Barnum and husband Stormy Barnum of Brownwood, Texas; son Kyle Gilmore and Fiance Keagan Brewer of Austin, Texas; sister Carla Gilmore of Elgin, Texas; Cousin Cheryl Gilmore of Smithville, Texas. Five grandchildren Austin Barnum, Hayden Barnum, Jaxon Barnum, and Kason Barnum of Brownwood, Texas; Olevia Gilmore of Austin, Texas. Step sons Wesley Cox and wife Krynn Cox of Brownwood, Texas and Richard Cox of Killeen, Texas; Father-in-law Richard LaFollette of Booker, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents EC and Una Gilmore and Tom and Opal Kirkland, his mother Laura Jane Gilmore, uncles Weldon Gilmore and Tommy Kirkland, Cousin Bob Gilmore and Mother-in-law Shirley LaFollette.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be  made to The Scottish Rite Hospital.
