HawkinsKennethA celebration of life for Kenneth Ray Hawkins will be held at the graveside at 4:00pm Monday, May 21, 2012, at Zephyr Cemetery.  Friends are encouraged to toast Ken’s memory at visitation on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Blaylock Funeral Home.

Kenneth Ray Hawkins of Early passed away in his home on May 18, 2012 at the age of 73.  He was born in Floresville, TX in 1938 to Allen and Norma Hawkins.  He was a 1957 graduate of Santa Anna High School and served his country in the Air Force.  Kenneth was a utility operator at Superior Cable for 36 years.  He enjoyed cooking out and entertaining family and friends.  Known to everyone as “Gramps,” he spent most of his time watching his grandkids play sports of all kinds.  You would often see him in his Zephyr Bulldog cap at any given football, basketball, baseball game or track meet.  He truly enjoyed his large family and spent many hours documenting special events with his video camera.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Hazel Moseley Hawkins.  Siblings; Lula Ann Hawkins of Brownwood, Peggy Jean Attaway and husband Art of Austin, Allen “Joe” Hawkins and wife Patricia of Georgia. Children; Yvonne Perry and friend Randy Cleveland of Brownwood, Dennis Stearns and wife, Donna of Granbury, Leonda Hawkins Allgood and husband, Dominic of Zephyr, Shana Hawkins King and husband , Kenny  of Zephyr. His grandchildren: Scott Harris and wife, Terre of Early, Michael Harris of Zephyr, Angie Bertrand and husband, Michael of Brownwood, Melissa Richards and husband, Michael of Granbury, Mitchell Stearns of Granbury, Harley Ashley of Early, Cory Ashley of Lake Brownwood, Jacob  and Maddison  Allgood  of Zephyr, and Kerstein, K.J., Kaiden and Kason King of Zephyr; his great – grandchildren: Audrey Harris, Emily Harris, Alec Harris, Ian Harris, Zac Harris, Joade Harris, Dusty Harris, Kylie Harris, Colt Bertrand, Clayton Bertrand, Bailey Richards, Ali Richards, Rebecca Richards, Brady Stearns and Colton Stearns; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Norma Hawkins of Santa Anna and his daughter, Elizabeth Hawkins Ashley of Early.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Services have been entrusted to the care of Blaylock Funeral Home.
