Keep Brownwood Beautiful recently applied for a “Reduce Your Use” grant to purchase an energy efficient washer and dryer for use at the Corinne T. Smith Animal Center.
First Choice Power awarded the $2000 grant to the organization for the purchase recently.
“To maintain a healthy environment, it is imperative to have a clean center,” said Cary Perrin of Keep Brownwood Beautiful in a release from First Choice Power. “With the commitment in making the lives of unwanted animals better, each day there is a mountain of laundry that must be washed and dried. This includes blankets and beds for the cats and dogs, towels for grooming, and cleaning.
The washer and drier are constantly running throughout each day. There have been many occasions when the laundry was so great that board members spent hours and hundreds of dollars at a coin operated facility to catch up on the laundry.”
