Brownwood News – Law Enforcement used a drone with a thermal camera to locate two missing kayakers on the Colorado River near Waldrip, Texas, which is near Rockwood, in southeast Coleman County.

Coleman County Game Warden Lee Morrison received a call from the Sheriff’s Department in reference to two missing kayakers on the Colorado River. Warden Morrison called Game Wardens Cameron Ramsey, who flies the Search and Rescue drone, along with Wardens Kirk Hornsby and Jacob Crumpton and Coleman County Deputy, Johnny Barkemeyer.

Coleman County Sheriffs Department pinged the phone of the two kayakers and an approximate location was found of where they might be. After Launching the drone, the lost kayakers were spotted down river and ultimately found on the bank of the river near 1:00 am Monday morning.

The kayakers had taken shelter under a shed and built a small fire. Once located, game wardens were able to get to them and provide help. The kayakers were dehydrated and fatigued, but otherwise doing well.
