Brownwood News – Brownwood based photographer, Karla Reece, won “Best Overall Image” in the sixth annual Stars of Texas Digital Photo Shootout on Saturday, January 27th. Reece’s photo, entitled “Shadows,” features the shadow of a telephone poll and a vivid two tone gray and red wall.
The competition is similar to the Stars of Texas Paint-Off event in that a digital photograph is to be completed within a set period of time. Participating photographers were asked to have a “shadow” featured in their photo.
This year’s shootout had 12 competing photographers. Competitors were given three hours to produce fully edited photos ready for judging.
This year’s Photo Shootout juror was Cathie Tyler. Tyler acquired a Bachelor and Master of Fine Art from the University of North Texas. Her work has shown in Exhibits throughout Texas and other states. Many of her works are in private, educational and corporate collections.
The shootout was again sponsored by Bostick’s Auto and Truck Sales as part of the Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit. The winning photograph won a $250 cash prize and will be on display as part of the 20th annual Stars of Texas Juried Art Exhibit at The Depot Saturday February 4th-17th.
